I am very disappointed in Dr Antonella’s office. I went there 4 years ago as a new wellness patient. She told me then that there was really no need to see her on an annual basis because of my age. I have always had annual gynocology check ups. I was a little taken aback but took her suggestion. I now have a medical condition that I need to be seen for and her office states that because I have not been in 4 years I am now considered a New patient and they can not see me for 4 months. I do not consider that to be a caring practice concerned with your health. Perhaps she is not interested in treating older women.

Dr. Nadine M. Antonelli's response
We apologize for any frustration you may have experienced with appointment scheduling. Dr. Antonelli definitely enjoys taking care of women of all ages. If you would like to discuss what might have led to this misunderstanding further, please call the office and ask to speak with the office manager.

As a bigger bodied woman, I am often prepared and anxious to receive fat-shaming and poor body talk from doctors; how my BMI is too high and my actual health needs ignored and considered only present due to my size. This is certainly not the case with Dr. Antonelli. There has never been any negative focus on my weight, ever. Instead, she listens and interacts with me based on my concerns and questions and my healthy body...as it is! (Not how it could be if I lost 50+ lbs) As a MD, she is truly holistic—in that she certainly believes in health and wellness at every size. She goes above and beyond to answer questions, provide information, educate, and encourage. Dr. Antonelli works with the patient and the body that they are in, encourages wellness, and when I leave her office I feel even more empowered and grateful for my body. Dr. Antonelli is a true gem. If you are a follower of Health At Every Size, and want person-centered, attentive, supportive, and empowering care, Dr. Antonelli is who to see!

I was scheduled for a first patient appointment and was advised to fill out paperwork. I was unable to deliver it, as I was having emergency IV infusions for a health issue in Raleigh. I explained this to the front desk, and that I would bring paperwork on Friday, but the office closed early. I brought it filled out the ne,t business day, and was advised I was taken off the schedule. Complete lack of compassion in the front end. I can not speak to the doc, who gets regular good reviews, and I'm sure is kind. This was an unacceptable oversight, that I hope they fix in similar situations in the future

Dr. Nadine M. Antonelli's response
Thank you for taking the time to post this helpful review. We are sorry you did not have a good first impression of our practice. To clarify, it is our office policy to require new patient paperwork in advance to hold a new patient appointment. This policy was created in response to a our experience that the majority of new patients "no show" for their new patient appointments when we have not received paperwork or a confirmation. In your case, it sounds like this office policy may have been poorly communicated/implemented. It is never our intent to be rigid with our office policies because life can be messy and unpredictable. Certainly, every attempt should be made to accommodate new patients who show up for appointments, including working them into the schedule if needed. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused...and even more sorry if you felt that we did not care. We do! Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Seashore Women's Health is a small single practitioner practice. I admire Dr. Antonelli who has chosen to practice medicine in this caring patient focused setting in spite of the trend of private medical practices becoming large impersonal corporations...her staff is attentive and helpful, her office is calming , and she takes time to listen to your concerns and your successes. Both of my teenage daughters see her as well.

Dr. Antonelli and her entire office staff are wonderful. I have been her patient for years and by far she is the most caring and knowledgeable physician I have been to. She makes you feel at ease and listens to any issue I may be having with concern and thoughtfulness. In a day and age when many physicians make you feel like you are just a number, Dr. Antonelli makes you feel like you are her top priority. I have had to have diagnostic tests and she personally calls me with the results every time. I have recommended her many times to many friends and colleagues. She is the best!

Dr Antonelli is so amazing! I went in with my hormones all out of whack due to my age. She was so sweet and very professional listening to me and what all I was telling her of what my systems were. Her professionalism speaks volumes. She explained all my options in detail. I was so stressed and she was so calm and nurturing. She made me feel everything is going to be ok. I feel so much better now with the option that was the best fit for me. No more crazy systems. I highly recommend Dr Antonelli to every woman in town. She knows her stuff!

I have been going to Dr Antonelli for years. Her bedside manner is by far the best experience I have ever had with any doctor. She takes her time to get to know you and really listens. During procedures she is extremely informative and advises what she is doing and why. When you have something wrong she explains what is going on and gives you options to remedy the problem. Her staff are wonderful and extremely caring and helpful. The office has a very calming atmosphere. It's feels like a family when your there. I highly recommend Dr Antonelli to all, you won't regret it. Robin F

This is the worst experience I have ever had with a medical professional. In short, she was rude, condescending, belittling and outright abusive. Her demeanor is smug, her patience is lacking, her empathy is non-existent, and the deplorable things that she said to me were offensive and belittling (full story below).
I was having abnormal bleeding and have been struggling with menstrual migraines for several years, and was referred to Ms. Antonelli by my primary care physician for a biopsy. From the beginning of our meeting, her manner was very brusque and she seemed either too busy or not interested in taking a history and getting to know my situation. She was examining me within the first few minutes, and then asked me questions during the exam (a less than comfortable situation). When I mentioned to her that I was on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for my menstrual migraines, she went off on a long diatribe about people and their “designer hormones," how expensive they were, and what a racket it was. Afterward, she said, “Well let me get off my soapbox.” By then, I felt belittled and insulted. Once she learned that my “designer hormones” were only $66/month, she seemed a bit more contrite.
After receiving my biopsy results (negative, thank goodness), she lowered the estrogen in my hormone compound. My menstrual migraines became worse in intensity and frequency, to the point where I was not functioning and truly in a state of despair. Based on a very positive recommendation by a close friend, I decided to give Ms. Antonelli another try, and scheduled an appt. with her to discuss my migraines and to hopefully come up with a plan of action.
Unfortunately, from the moment she walked into the room, I could feel her “attitude” toward me. Her voice was clipped as she started immediately asking questions, and barely giving me time to answer. She questioned why I thought I had menstrual migraines (“Who told you that?”), did not ask why I believed this to be the case, told me that they didn’t “sound” like migraines, and then stated that she would be sending me to a neurologist. I let her know that I had been to one 2 years ago, had MRIs performed, etc. and all came back fine. She then asked me what I had been doing to control the headaches, and I replied, “taking hormone levels and adjusting my hormone compound, but I know you don’t like that.” Defensively, she replied, “What don’t I like?” to which I answered that the last time I was in, she had made it clear that she did not believe in hormone replacement therapy. The answer she spat at me: “You came in with abnormal bleeding and wanted to know what I thought. If you want to keep bleeding from your uterus and risk getting cancer, then keep doing the same thing.”
I sat there in disbelief that she actually said those words to me (I apologize for the graphic description, but feel it is important for women who are considering working with this person to know the complete facts). I then replied that I have always tried to research things, and do the healthiest interventions to take care of myself, and that she made me feel as if I was an idiot. I told her that I had come to her to try and get help with an issue and that I needed a partner who would work with me to assist me with my health issue. She replied, “No, you did not. You came here to vent your anger at me, it is obvious.”
I told her that this was not the case, and that even after our first meeting, I made an effort to come again, because my friend had spoken so highly of her. Her reply, “Who told you to come back? I didn’t’ tell you to come back.”
At that point, I had had enough, picked up my bag, and stormed out, upset, angry and shaking. When I got to my car, I burst into tears. It is bad enough to be struggling on a day-to-day basis with a debilitating illness, but to be treated in such an abusive, patronizing, and reprehensible manner by a person who is a supposed to care for the ill and “do no harm” is unforgivable and I am seriously contemplating reporting her to the Medical Board. Please see the other similar review below. Although some patients obviously do like Ms. Antonelli, I cannot in good conscious recommend her to anyone. I truly do not feel that she should be practicing.
