Dr Axler was my family doctor from 1978 to 2012 when he retired. He was also my daughters doctor. Always treated me with skill and comfort. He helped my mother out during her worst times. I have yet to find a doctor as good as Axler since he retired. I sure do miss him.

Dr. Axler was my doctor since before I was born. My mom was a single mother with no family and I had some significant health challenges as an infant. My mom told me that Dr. Axler would call her at night to check on me and that it made her feel like she wasn't alone and that someone else cared about me. She cried when he retired. When I was a child I was never scared to see him, he was always happy and smiling and gentle; he always made be feel like I was the toughest kid in the world and I felt like he cared for me like I was his own daughter. When I was a teenager I would show up without an appointment and he would squeeze me in between patients. When I turned 18 I went through a serious bout of depression, Dr. Axler didn't dismiss me or tell me it would get better. He told me all my options, and most importantly he listened. Dr. Axler always made me feel like I was important and that he had all the time in the world for me. He referred me to counselling and when that didn't help he prescribed me anti-depressants. That was important, when I went for my follow ups he would ask if I felt better and I would say no, and he would believe me, so we'd try a different one. I went through four different kinds over the course of a year until I finally found one that worked for me. I was only on it for six months. I have been lucky in that I haven't experienced depression since. I attribute my ability to overcome it to Dr. Axler's ability to listen. When I became an adult and I moved away from Toronto I didn't mind driving two hours each way for appointments because I knew there was no better Doctor than Dr. Axler. Sometimes when I couldn't get there I would call his reception with a health concern and he would always call back within the hour. When I had a child of my own I made sure that Dr. Axler was her Doctor too because there was no one I trusted more than him. I'm sad he's retired, I wish I could see him or call him and say hello and ask how he's doing. Dr. Axler made such an impact on my life.

I was a patient of Dr Axler for 24 years and did travel four hours one way to see him after I moved away from Toronto eight years ago. He took the best care of me and my needs. I was less than thrilled when he retired but accept this as his right to do so. He was the best and always treated me as an individual human being. He made a positive impact on my life and I will always remember him as one of the best doctors I ever had.

Dr Axler 37 years, when I married he took on my wife delivered our three children and kept us all healthy.I always knew what a very special doctor he was, but now that he has retired We are truely realizing how lucky we were to have had him as our friend and doctor,I always felt safe with his diagnosis,we took this for granted, really going to miss having him at just a phone call away! I am now trying to get another doctor at the Albany but they are booking meet and greet appointments months out,I need to see a doctor today as I have just had surgery recently, the Albany's answer is to go to the walk-in clinic?no pain medications at the walk in clinic (once again a few ruin it for all )always make you feel like a drug seeker. I think I am done with the Albany and will look else where for a family doctor as the Albany to me has always been a meat market $ Thank you for setting the bar so high doctor A and I hope you have a long healthy and prosperous retirement.

This doctor is the reason i no longer have a dad who passed at the age of 65years.I have never been so happy in my life to find out he is retiring. Dr axler had been my dads dr for over 40 yrs. My dad was a happy heathy man never sick till 1.5 yes ago later to be wrongfull diagnossed and given a inhaler and said he will be good as gold in 2 weeks. I would not let this man anywhere near my family if he was the last dr on earth. please people if you love your family get second opinions after seeing this man. My family will never be the same due to taking the most wonderfull man in the world from us.

I have been a patient with Dr. Axler for 43 years, and have found him to be well above average in all respects. Dr. Axler is retiring this June, 2012. Finding a replacement is going to be extremely difficult for my 73 years. Dr. Axler also delivered my Daughter Lisa who is also a patient along with her husband Jeff. They too will miss him, and will also be seeking a replacement Family Doctor. I suppose this is life, but at the same time a sad time on his departure from our long term relationships with him. We all wish him a great retirement. Take care Dr. Axler. All our best wishes from Bill Hordelski, Lisa & Jeffrey Moss.
