It’s been a few years but he treated my mother at Amica. He prescribed Tylenol for everything and took no time to discuss her meds. s it turned out she had pneumonia which was diagnosed by our family doctor and bled out because she had been prescribed warfarin (not by Norman) but something he should have caught as unnecessary. But that’s another story for another poor MD. Old people have no chance in this society

My parents saw him at Amica Newmarket. He never examined them once. They had to wait an hour after their appointment time to see him and then he met with them for 10 minutes. He changed appointment times without telling us so we missed some of my parents' appointments. His bedside manner is terrible, he complains constantly about the medical and long-term care system, and he doesn't let you get a word in edgewise. Our pharmacist told us all he is more interested in golfing than medicine. He should not be working with seniors but all Amica and the other for-profit nursing homes care about is having a body there.

My parents recently moved into a retirement home in Newmarket and we met with Dr Kalyniuk for an initial interview. He was very patient and thorough and spent the time to get to know them, despite having a full waiting room. He joked around with my parents and made them feel very comfortable.

This guy is an anti-vax kook, Told my father he was being poisoned by the vaccine and the CBC. More interested in golf and building his house than treating patients. Why he would have been hired to deal with vulnerable seniors is absolutely beyond me.

Terrible. Terrible bedside manner. Always irritable and complaining. When he retired my father went to a new family doctor who immediately diagnosed two cancers which saved his life. If Norman hadn't retired it would have been too late.

I feel Dr. Kalyniuk does the best he can under the circumstances in the retirement homes. They don’t provide proper facilities/equipment to do examinations, allow only 10 minutes per person/issue, where seniors always have multiple issues. The support staff for the examinations has usually been an office administrator who may or may not understand the brief notes provided by the company nurses. Dr. Kalyniuk always takes the time to discuss options for my mother and will make a recommendation, or referral based on our discussions.
I always attend the appointments as I have normally identified any issues long before the retirement home nurses, I care about the outcome, whereas the retirement home staff seem to have little to no interest in their clients.

Terrible family doctor working in a # of senior living buildings in Aurora. No bedside manner, complains constantly about his OHIP billing issues. Stays behinds his desk, doesn't acknowledge elders presence, appears not to care. He should not be working with our vulnerable population.

Norman is very knowledgeable about golf & Botox. He is a perfect example of a why there should be stringent occupational aptitude/personality assessments for certain professions - like teacher, doctor, or police officer.
