Dr Joutsi was not my doctor but was the one on call when I delivered my daughter 11 years ago. I was so happy to be pregnant and was so excited to give birth. My daughter’s heart rate would go down with every contraction. “She was sunny side up” and had the cord around her neck. He used suction and forceps. After my daughters birth he left the placenta in. Later that day some of it came out although I had no idea what it was. My daughter and I were in the hospital for several days (early Sunday morning to late Thursday). My husband and I took our daughter to our family doctor on Friday. I felt so sick I thought I was dying. My doctor removed my placenta! That was 6 days later. In all of the time I was in the hospital no one including Dr Joutsi removed the placenta. I was sick for 3 weeks. Couldn’t breast feed my daughter. The guilt I feel for being that ill when my daughter was born has never gone away. I love my daughter and was so thrilled to be a mom. I do think that I have not been able to carry another baby because of complications from my daughter’s birth. Some times we all have bad days at work. Maybe Dr Joutsi was having a bad day but I don’t think so. How do you not deliver the placenta. My mom and sisters were outraged at this but I was so sick I could do not about it. My own gynaecologist told me after “it takes a brave surgeon to not do surgery.” Whatever that means. If you have an opportunity to see this doctor DON’T!

I have been seeing dr joutsi for 13 years (he also delivered all my siblings as well as my own son) I would not recommend any other dr! I have extreme PCOS issues and he has been helping me every step of the way as well as guiding me through past postpartum! He will be conducting my Hysterectomy and I honestly would not trust any other dr to do it!

Dr Joutsi was the Ob I was referred to by my doctor for my first born. He was nothing shy of amazing. He followed up with all my appts thoroughly monitored me every step of the way. Made sure I understood everything that was going to happen at the hospital during birth. He was going to induce me at 39 weeks but my water ended up breaking 4 hours before I was to be induced. Birth obviously was not easy nor not painful. But he did everything possible to avoid c section if it wasn’t necessary. My daughter had her heart rate elevated the entire dilation time as I was spiking a fever and he wanted me to push as hard as I could to avoid c section and to avoid pushing for an hour as she was also head down face up. She ended up turning during the pushing process. I had a level one tear and dr joutsi got straight to stitching. He was very gentle and delivered my placenta fully with no issues. He had great bedside manners. I can’t thank him enough. His two front ladies were also super nice the entire time I saw them. They even urgently sent blood work referral for my glucose testing. They were thorough and super nice.

I know have a beautiful baby girl and my recovery knock on wood was smooth. For my second I hope to have Dr Joutsi again !

I have had Joutsi for 12 years for my OB. He was amazing when I had my first child, he was on call the night my second was born. Great feeling, felt at ease in the delivery room.
The office staff are incredible.
Would recommend him to any new mom to be and to anyone that is ready to have their family complete and get their tubes done.
Makes you feel fully comfortable and makes sure you are ready and confident in your decision.

In Aug 2022 Dr Joutsi saved the life of my boy with an emergency csection and saved my life a few hours later from a severe hemorrhage from my uterus failing. He is a great OB and incredible surgeon, I also saw him multiple times in emerge at Southlake during the pregnancy from other issues. I recall leaving the hospital many times saying I hope he is the one who delivers my baby

Without the attention to detail from the nurses and himself at the hospital these times both my baby and I would not be here.

He took me on as a patient for follow up. He is calm and somehow while being hysterical during pregnancy, during labour and afterwards his calming demeanor leaves me 100% thankful for his knowledge and feeling more comfortable.

He is friendly, knowledgeable and does what is best for baby and mom. Always.

He left for 3 months without informing patients. Very poor bedside manner and does not communicate well. Good surgeon but should not be a gynecologist.

Dr. Joutsi is a knowledgeable and kind doctor . Unfortunately his staff are very disorganized and don’t seem to know how to prioritize follow up appointments. I had surgery because of an abnormal pap and bleeding. The secretary called to book me for a follow up of my results and I was booked in six weeks. I was completely shocked to find out I had cervical cancer and they had the results for 5 weeks. I felt that was negligent. I was referred to a different surgeon for further surgery and that doctor commented that I should have been seen sooner. Dr. Joutsi should keep a closer eye on his staff and their poor practices before he gets sued.
