Best surgeon in the city. Excellent skill, knowledge and his manners are better than any doctor I have seen. Highly recommended.

I have had Crohns for 15 years and as a result 2 operations. When I first had dealings with Dr Ibbotson he brought in a calm, caring nature and in the last 2 years of knowing him it has never changed. He is smart, considerate, very skilled and can think outside the box. If a person has problems with this Doctor then they probably need help in other ways as well.

My family Doctor referred me to Dr. Ibbotson to deal wth my gall bladder, He was incredibly helpful, insightful and helped me feel comfortable with my chosen procedure. I had a very short wait in pre-op before being taken into the OR and put under. I recovered very quickly and 3 years later there's no real evidence of the inscisions.

In March of 2008, he listened when no other doctor would. Addressed me as a person, not a statistic nor a pay cheque. BELIEVED me when I said there was something wrong inside. Got me in for surgery, opened me up and so there was. Cannot shed enough tears of gratitude for this saint of a man. God bless the career he choose and the people he is healing because of it.

A very compassionate, caring doctor who treats you like a person not just a patient. I had a new baby at home and a 2 year old when I started having gallbladder attacks almost daily, my surgery wasn't booked for a month and a half but he gave me his card and told me to call him if things got to where I couldn't handle the pain anymore. They did and I called and he had me in for surgery in days, performing it on a saturday for me. I don't think there are many doctors out there like this!

last year i want to My family Doctor (DR I Renfree) complaining of severe abdominal pain .Thinking this was caused by my crohns i was just going to ask for stronger pain killers.Dr renfree said it was much more seriouse and admitted me to the QEII hospital where i was refered to Dr Ibbotson.I had a ruptured intestine causing a huge abbcess in my lower abdomen.Dr Ibbotson treated me extremly well and kept me in hospital for 14 days to recouperate and postponed my surgery to reduce the liklyhood of an illiostomy bag. When he did the surgery It was perfect and no bag. I thanked him but thanks could never be enough for this wonderfull man.I pray that i have him for any future surgery as Crohns makes it likly I will.

Wonderful doctor, couldn't ask for better care. After waiting for hours in emergency, literally until the lights went down, he came along, hopped up on my bed, and gave me a big hug. I'd never been hugged by a doctor so I blushed like a schoolgirl. He's very easy to look at. He doesn't have office hours, since he only works at the hospital for part of the year and spends the other part in Nepal working for the Red Cross. Can it be so? An altruistic physician to whom money is not the be all, and the end all.
