This was the worst experience I had with my daughter and her psychiatric illness. We had to wait for almost 5 weeks to see this psychiatrist. We (I was taking my daughter) had been seeing a very competent adolescent psychiatrist. However, she does not take insurance. Since I am a single mom, I decided we needed to have someone that takes BCBS. My daughter had just come out of the hospital and one of the social workers at the hospital said that he was fine. So, after the doc was done talking with my daughter for 30 minutes. He dismissed my daughter and said he could not treat her. He would not explain. He used the excuse that my daughter did not want her parents to know what she said. After we got home, my ex and I convinced my daughter to call the doctor's office and allow us to hear why he could not treat her. My ex and I got on the phone with him and he said it's his call as to whether he treats a patient. I am reporting him to the medical board and also every psychiatrist in DFW!!
