I started going to Dr. Torraville in October 2016 because I was having vaginal bleeding. After four months of testing including a biopsy he told me the bleeding was caused because my uterus was thinning. I was 66 at the time. He prescribed some pills for me and said that they would dry up the bleeding. I got home and read the instructions and it said to NOT take those pills if you have high colestral or if you have had breast cancer of which I have had both. I immediately made an appointment with Dr. Malally in Clanenville. She immediately did a biopsy and it came back that I had stage four cancer of the uterus. She then booked me for surgery and did a complete hysterectomy. Thank God the cancer was confined to my uterus only. Dr. Torraville told me there was no sign of pollups or cancer. I would not recommend him to anyone . I think if I had stayed with him I'd probably be dead by now.

On Jan 19, 2010 I went to emerge with what I thought was a possible kidney stone. Turns out I was 9 weeks pregnant inside my right ovary. The hospital immediately went in an uproar after the discovery as my life was hanging by a thread. I had lost almost 2 litres of blood and was hemorrhaging on the inside. Dr torraville was rushed in to perform a surgery to save my life. When I awakend from surgery he was sitting on bed waiting. He had tears in his eyes and he was trying to explain what had happened, what he had to do and that he was relieve he didn't lose me on the table which at one point he didn't think he was going to beable to save my life. He did and I'm forever grateful. Words will never be enough to congratulate this dr.

Dr. Torrance was amazing throughout my entire pregnancy. I was high risk and he did great answering any questions or concerns I had. He was great. Until I went into labor. I went in on a Thursday morning and was slowly progressing. I never seen him the entire day or night. Friday morning he came in and without checking me (I had not been check since around 5 the night before) told me he was sending me home because he was going away for the weekend and didn't want to cancel his plans. He wanted me to come back on Monday to be induced. I'm 6 days overdue and in labor but I'll go home so you that the birth of my child doesn't interfere with your weekend. I was so pissed of I called my mom screaming about his blatant ignorance. The nurse then came in and told me to go home shower and come back where Dr. Madu would take me on. So I did. I came back within half an hour and was checked right away and was 6 cm. And he wanted me to go back Monday. I stopped dilating at 8 cm and finally around 2 am Saturday I demanded to see Dr. Madu. As soon as he walked in I demanded a c section. By 324 am my beautiful baby girl was born. The nurses were amazing except for one heifer on day shift who was to lazy to do her job.

Very disgusted with Dr Torraville. He was on call the night that I had my child, he was called and did not show up until after my boy was born (not breathing), and stood behind the nurses as they worked on him.. with his hands in his pockets, didn't even take them out. The nurses need to be recognized for the good work that they do, and someone should be notified about some of the negligence that takes place. Not only in Gander hospital, but many other hospitals around the world. I was not pleased at all, and have heard many say the same.

I went in for a hysterectomy, and came out with a fistula. I had a hole in my bladder and vagina. When I went back to tell him I was leaking urine, he felt my lower abdomen and told me it was because he beat my bladder up during surgery. He didn't even take the time to look. One month later I had to have another surgery to fix the problem. I went to another surgeon. I'll never go back to him again. 4 to 6 weeks recovery ended up being 4 months.

Tops in class. Cares about patient welfare. Works long hours but keeps a great attitude. Knowledge and experienced. Will advise when surgery may benefit but also when less likely to add anything new. Certainly a benefit to the people of the province.
