Dr. O’Connor is never on time. Her excellent staff has left for greener pastures. She is very unprofessional and rude. This office should be shutdown.

I must echo the review of that written on Feb 22 2017 and add that I've never ever observed nor could have fathomed such dysfunction in a medical office.

I gave Dr. O'Connor well over a year to get her act together. Praying that her and her staff's numerous mistakes would finally cease. They never did. My life was put in danger, health declining, young and other wise "healthy" adult with tremendous health issues. Not only did I go through COUNTLESS mistakes that ranged in severity from herself and her staff, I have also witnessed patients WALKING OUT on numerous occasions from their own frustrations with AAIR. Truly, I have never witnessed or heard of such unprofessionalism before. My family and friends cannot believe how irresponsible and sloppy this office is with each story I tell them. I was told to leave sooner, but I was naïve. Not only did we get almost no where in over a year (with my serious, declining health issues) each appointment was 3.5 hours long. YES. 3.5 hours long and I saw the doctor for about 5-8 minutes each time. Each visit, she would step out of the room at least once or twice for some strange reason that was unrelated to my visit. I've also witness screaming matches between her and her staff in their back room. With employees walking out. There is a very high turn over right there. Dr. O'Connor has also even forgot why I was even in her office, after 2 hours of waiting for my apt that she requested I have as a follow up to review lab tests. Once updating her, she barely gave me a review of my lab results (2 other doctors pointed out abnormal lab results that she NEVER did). I feel horrible for all patients going through this same treatment (because I know there are many) and the wasted time spent with this office and doctor. Especially with patients where their lives are at stake. I have been told by numerous employees (they have already left AAIR) that people have been hired to "fix" these issues. But, the issues will never be fixed until Dr. O'Connor gets her act together. I pray this is possible, but there is a lot of fixing that needs to be done and I don't foresee this occurring any time soon.

I have been seeing Dr O'Connor for just over a year now and the rest of my family is close behind. My wait times have been a bit longer than usual but Dr. O'Connor is always ready to help in whatever way she can. During my visits I really feel like I'm with a doctor who cares because they care. Not because they are paid to care.

I understand some of the frustrations reported as we became new patients. I think many of the frustrations are the end result of her wanting to help the most people. Very simple allergy screening is probably faster at NC Asthma Clinic where they run on time and then run you out the door with inability to ask appropriate questions. I think the office makes me want to bring a hat and mittens is cold because I've never seen her sit and we are frequent fliers. I don't doubt she is overbooked because she takes on feels like she can't say no to the mast cell disease patients who can't find another allergist to entertain this true disorder that highly affiliated with allergy experts in Harvard. And it is a complex and scary disorder with loads of testing. Primary immune disease also ends up there because most practices prefer to stay on schedule, see simple stuff, and get home on time. Primary immune disease is difficult to diagnose with such specialized testing that many immunologists cannot interpret and then require vigorous insurance appeal for the commonly used medication that 10s of thousands of dollars.

So I assume she is running fast and in and out of rooms because of a moral obligation to help these chronically ill patients that cannot find a doctor willing to put the effort in to diagnose and treat.

There are times I've been frustrated. But the truth is I think she is overwhelmed by trying to help too many people who don't have another option. I also have rarely encountered a doctor to take complaints as though they weren't embellished, show sympathy and caring, and be willing to read hundreds of medical notes at home at midnight so she can know the whole story.

I also know she is clearly one of the brightest doctors I've ever encountered, while maintaining compassion, and willing to look way beyond the narrow field of allergy/immunology which is wise because anyone that thinks the body can be broken up into nice little systems that don't interact with the others is foolish.

As an allergist and AFTER seeing 4 different cardiologists she asked if I had been tested for Marfans, so she also saw the increased diameter that I saw but didn't ask because I figured they were the heart doctors. And recent,y was dx with fibrillin defect.

Meanwhile she caught my toddlers anemia, immune deficiency, mast cell disease, and got him referred to a great Peds heme.

She phone consulted with the NIH on our case and she tried hard to get us in a Center there.

We've learned travel out of state for a higher standard of care for many of our issues. My sons pedi, our family doctor, and Dr. O'Connor are the few kept due to intelligence, competence and caring.

I recommend Dr O'Connor to everyone that I know! She is very thorough, compasionate and listens to her patients when they have a problem. I have seen many providers before I met her and none as genuine as she. There's no one that I know that is as enthusiastic about helping someone as she is. She strives for excellence in whatever she is doing and wants the best for all of her patients. Her motivation for practicing medicine should be an inspiration to all physicians, everywhere. She's the true ideal image of what a doctor should be.

After my godmother was suffering from a misdiagnosis of Rosacea, I called the wonderful, Dr Maeve O'Connor, MD AAIR of Charlotte. Thank you Dr. O'Connor & your staff! My Godmother was suffering from a terrible allergic reaction to some lotion she put on her face, and we were able to have her seen right away. Her staff took such great care of my godmother, was gentle with her painful irritation, and even sent her home with some cream she could start applying it and feeling better right away. I can't thank Dr. O'Connor and the wonderful staff at AAIR of Charlotte for taking such amazing care of my godmother. They have 3 locations throughout Charlotte, so call her if you need an allergist! http://www.aairofcharlotte.com/
