Expert in his field! I would if he performed all of my surgery if needed. He is compassionate, patient , easy to understand and easy to talk to. January 23, 2018 Dr. De Jong performed a Parathyroidectomy on me. Today I am one week post surgery and I feel Great! I can go up and down my stairs without the pain in my knees and feet. My incision is small, nice and neat! I rate Dr De Jong "10 STAR"

Dr. Dejong is excellent all the way around! He removed my thyroid with no complications. I chose him because of his experience and that he specializes in endocrine surgery. He did a wonderful job, my incision was very straight and you can barely see the scar at all anymore. He told me to rub vitamin E oil on it 2-3 times a day, and I did, it was the best advice! He really cares! You will not be disappointed in choosing him as your surgeon!

After being told I needed to find a doctor that specialized in endocrine surgery, not just general surgery, I found Dr Steven DeJong from Loyola University Medical Center after researching endocrine surgeons. Using the advice I found on the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons site, I found several surgeons in my area that specialized in endocrinology. I had learned that an experienced surgeon does at least 50 related surgeries per year. Dr. DeJong told me he did 7-10 endocrine surgeries per week, with a very high percentage cure rate. (I can't remember exact number, but it was above 95%)
Dr DeJong turned out to be a very good choice. Not only was he experienced, but he was patient, kind, thorough, understanding and just a very nice man. He made sure I understood everything , using plain language, pictures and drawing graphs. He explained the purpose of all the tests he ordered, and always explained the results..he would get back to me within days with the results and tell me what the next plan was. His physical exams were through and gentle. I never felt rushed, explanations were never brushed off. He explained the surgery in great detail. Surgery itself went smoothy and without complications. He came to see me exactly when he said he was going to, his follow-up visits at the clinic were thorough and attentive.
One excellent form of communication that Dr DeJong utilizes is a patient portal. Lab reports and other information can be obtained through this. You can message the dr/nurses with questions or non-emergency problems and an answer will be sent within 24 hrs. Dr. DeJong always got back to me without fail. I really liked and appreciated that I had a "direct link" to the staff if I needed them.
I could go on & on about how good I thought Dr Steven DeJong is, but it would be repetitive. Let me just say, in summary, that he is a very warm, nice, caring physician. He is patient, informative, knowledgable and trust-worthy with an excellent bedside manner. I think he's a rare doctor and I'm glad I found him.

rushed or brushed off.
