One of the worst drs I have ever been to. Was referred to him because at the time he was only pain management dr in the area. I had herniated disk L4/5. He gave me an epidural injection sitting on gerny hold pillow with feet in the chair. I kept telling him that I was experiencing a lot of pain. He continued to tell me it was only pressure just like the epidurals given during delivery. First of all I never had an epidural with either of my kids so I knew the difference between pressure & pain. My knee actually jumped up out of the chair involuntarily & HE asked me why it happened. My blood pressure dropped to 70/40 after the procedure. Turns out he punctured my spinal membrane. I couldn't lift my head off the pillow for 3 weeks. When the pain began as a horribly headache I called his office on Thursday. They said I probably just had headache. Called again when I could hold my head up & receptionist said she'd pass onto nurse. Called again Friday. He never retuned my calls. New dr told me that he had punctured my spinal membrane & he had to know when my blood pressure dropped to a near death situation. He could've corrected by doing a blood patch which was standard in my cause. Rather than prescribed medications. Was only able to reach him after my daughter found his pager # in very fine print in some paperwork because she was afraid I was dying. She was only 15. He was furious she interrupted his dinner on a Sunday night, but he immediately knew what was wrong when she said I couldn't lift my head. His staff refused to speak with me. Especially after he billed my insurance for the use of a florascopy when he just injecyed the needle. I informed my insurance co & they researched & denied payment & told me not to pay. He's office threatened to take me to court which I told them I was fine with because i wasn't going to pay as advices by insurance. So instead they put the nonpayment on my credit report. This happened 7 years ago. I've advised any one I know not to see him. Thankfully I found a great pain management Dr in Newport News. Unfortunately I will have scare tissue in my spinal cord forever. Worst experience ever!!9

I have seen many pain management specialists over the years, some helpful others not. Dr. Gajjar was seen after one of the not-so-helpful specialists failed to listen to me, put me through 2 unnecessary and unhelpful procedures. Dr. Gajjar listen, ran the right functional tests and went through my medical records do develop a conservative approach to pain management. Although the first attempt did not produce optimal results, he recommended a caudal epidural instead of select nerve blocks. The procedure was painful and he and his nurses were very gentle and understanding. It worked, I was pain free for 18months!

Dr Hajj are is one of the finest doctors I have ever met. He combines an excellent bedside manner with superior skill as a physician. He has a great deal of knowledge in the area of pain management and is very compassionate. He has worked with me to try several alternative therapies for my pain when conventional ones weren't working. He prescribed narcotics when they were truly needed but has tried many non drug therapies as well. If you are looking for someone who will improve your quality of life without making you a drugged up zombie this is the doctor for you.

I received a epidural injection from Gajjar in mid October. It didn't help.I went to his office a day before Thanksgiving and I was told that nothing could be done for me until they received a e-mail response from him.I called Gajjar's office the Monday after Thanksgiving and I was told that he had not responded to the e-mail and that they were going to try e-mailing him again. On Tuesday I came back to his office and I was told that they would give me a call on Wednesday. He suggested through his nurse that I have another epidural injection. If the 1st one didn't help why would I consent to have another one. The nurse seemed confused about what action she needed to take. She proceeded to apologize for Gajjar. I refer to him as Gajjar because I don't see him as a doctor. I see him as a uncaring person seeking to line his pockets. I would not recommend him to my worst enemy!
