Arrogant, snide, mean is what comes to mind. He should not have anything to do with cancer patients. But if there is no other option, is there no way to teach him eye contact and to drop the one liners about attitude. Smiling through cancer is not reasonable unless the patient is finding sunshine in a bag.

He did a enoscopy on me in 2003 (I had a sliding hernia that he didnt see) All he gave me was one valium, I was wide awake. Ive never been through anything so unecesarily painful in my life. I was in the hospital becuase I passed a gall stone. He removed my gallbladder in Sept 2003 and told me I would be fine. I still have pain where my gallbladder use to be, scar tissue I am told. I also had to have my hernia repaired (that he missed) the following year. Thank god I went to Halifax for that.

Had an emergency appendectomy done by Dr. Cooper in May 1999 after it had ruptured. Awoke after surgery to find no drainage tube from the incision site, no antibiotics running either. Five days after surgery, I became septic with temp. of 104F and BP of 80 systolic and was RELEASED from the hospital this way into the care of my parents! They took me home to NB, only to be rushed back to Moncton Hospital 24 hours later. Ended up with an abdominal abscess that drained for 7 weeks, came very close to death! If you value your life, avoid Dr. Cooper at all costs!!

Dr Cooper operated on me to remove my appendix,, that night I had problem urinating, after many requests 24 hrs later I had a cathader and removed 1+ litres of urine. 2 hrs later I started having problems breathing, unbeleivable pain, another surgeon removed bile from my stomach with a vacuum tube and reoperated on me. I had a hematoma with a blood clot. After the operation Dr Cooper told my wife not to worry as it was a bump in the road, he told me the second operation was due to a nurses mistake. The following week I was back in the hospital with a serious infection and 5 week later I'm still draining but recuperating thanks to my new surgeon, and the VON who come in daily to change packing and flush the open wound. I would not reccomend Dr Cooper to anyone

After having my first child, I began to have terrible gall bladder attacks. So bad that I was put on a waiting listed for surgery right away and had it removed within 3 weeks. Dr.Cooper was my surgeon. I have a great respect and admiration for this man. My surgery went wonderfully and I recovered quite quickly. I have never felt better. Dr.Cooper not only saved my life, but drastically increased the quality of it. I owe a great deal to this Doctor. He is a very compassionate person. I felt he actually cared about my situation. I found him quite knowledgable and personable. Clear and concise. A wonderful doctor and human being. I highly recommend Dr.Cooper. Highly!

My father is lucky to still be alive after having surgery by this man. I wish we'd have known then what we know know. He never would have gone to Dr. Cooper. He is all ego and careless. There are much better choices in surgeons in Antigonish so why take the chance on this man?

Ok, I hear nothing but bad reviews of Dr Cooper. In October 2006 I had to get my gallbladder removed. I ignored the surgery for 2 years prior. Finally I had no choice. When I heard it was Dr. Cooper I was scared because the majority of everyone I talked to said he always makes bad mistakes and people end up being in a bad condition when they leave the operating table. I cried I was so scared. HOWEVER!!! I went through with the surgery with him and I must say he did the most perfect job he could ever do. I have no scars, no internal problems and also the staff that was with him were so gentle and made me feel so comfortable. So there may be some cases that ended up in disaster, but this will happen in every hospital. The "other" surgeon that people recommended to me as being the "best" ended up screwing up on someone's bowel the same day I was in. It's just that Antigonish is such a small town and the gossip is ridiculous in shattering a persons reputation. I admire Dr. Cooper.
