This woman should not be allowed to practice medicine at all. What she does to her patients is dangerous. She will prescribe pain meds and then cuts you off cold turkey. She is a glorified drug dealer, and doesn't care about anything except the almighty dollar. The pain meds aren't the only problem. Her prescribing methods of other medications is dangerous as well. She doesn't follow a taper method on anything she has ever prescribed for me. I urge people to go anywhere else but to her. She will also make you wait for hours, and talk religion often. She is extremely condescending as well.

Dr. Helman is, quite simply, remarkable. She is a Harvard and Case Western University graduate and she knows her stuff! I feel incredibly comfortable with Dr. Helman and trust her completely. While it is true that Dr. Helman will on occasion discuss religion and politics, I find it more endearing than aggravating. In other words, she talks to you, not down to you, and engages you in normal, everyday conversation. Dr. Helman does not dress like other physicians, she is kind, supremely modest, and a fantastic human being. I owe her a lot.

I find Dr. Helman to be a very good Dr.I have been seeing her for a year now I have had 5 back surgery's in 7 years and have seen many Dr's and she is the only one to take time and listen and compared to my other Dr's she is much more conservative with the pain meds. All in all a good Doc.

Dr. Helman is passive-agressive, acts bi-polar with regard to one appointment to the next on how she'll treat/prescribe, demands monthly visits when she could prescribe 3-months at a time, and is basically self-absorbed with her own "intellect," not trusting "anybody who is less knowledgeable than I" (sic). She has cut me off pain meds in a manner that is both inappropriate and UNSAFE. She LOVES to tell her patients how they should live their lives. OOOOOOOOOh, how I could go on and on, but my husband is telling me to get off this dang thang. Dr. Helman should be avoided at all costs--unfortunately, while she *has in the past* been willing to prescribe adequate pain meds (and that is hard to find in a doctor), I'd go to Vancouver/Portland or Eugene before I'd EVER see her again. If you don't agree with her, she treats you as though you were somehow "out of compliance" with her "rules" that she doesn't even follow herself.check out her MEDICAL BOARD COMPLAINTS of 2005 and 2006!

I've been seeing doctor Helman since 1998 for chronic back pain which I've had since my teens over 30 years ago. Because she isn't a specialist, she may not know everything & it seems like people expect her to be perfect. I'd say that if anyone had serious problems with her, they didn't follow her advice or listen well to everything she had to say & discuss it. I know most doctors are 'get em in & out fast to make the big bucks' & I know she isn't like that. It usually takes a long time to get into her exam room, but she takes her time & tries to heal people body AND mind because she has a gift.If she mentions religion, I kinda ignore it & she doesn't preach. If you're the type of person who expects a super rich looking doctor, this isn't her. She's sweet, earthy & real. I have had very few problems with her & she's extremely careful when prescribing my medications. If I don't want to or need to take a medication, I discuss it with her. Some people can't communicate with their doctors!

One of the best Dr`s if not the best in the country. Takes a very deep concern for her patients and is more concerned with their well being than the bottom line and quickie office visits other Dr`s offer. I have always found my visits good and feeling like the Dr really listened to me and was not just thinking about how many could be seen before tee off. In the beginning it was uncertain if my insurance would pay and she still saw me and my family regularly. She also takes the time to personally talk to other Dr`s that she refers me to so that they will understand exactly what is going on instead of just reading the chart notes. I have seen allot of different Dr`s in my lifetime and I would have to say Dr Helman is the best family Dr a person could have.

Dr. Helman has changed over the years. When I first had her as my doctor, she was a regular family doctor and not a bad one. However, she decided to stop taking insurance, and has gotten more and more into the money, and into giving inappropriate advice to her patients through the years. Even though I had always paid my bill per visit, she actually gave me a lecture on meeting financial obligations during one of my appointments. If I was not one of her first patients for the day, I had to sit in her (very tiny!) waiting room for up to an hour and a half while she was giving inappropriate advice to other clients. She's had several trends, two of them financial and religious, and she makes sure she gives her new lecture to all patients. Others here are also correct in that she over Rx's. She seems to like drugs over exercise, diet, and common sense and over-Rx's them. I stopped going to her because of how badly she's changed.

wouldn't listen to me when I told her that I had an infection, (staph) Was left with it for approx 8-9 years. Prescribed massive amounts of pain reliever instead of fixing problem. She made many religious comments that I feel interfered with treatment. Did spend more than most Dr's do talking to me but didn't do anything to cure any of the medical problems. I did almost die from the pain med because I got to a point where I couldn't eat or drink. She put me in the hospital and after spending the night there with out anyone telling me why I was there, another Dr came in and told me he was going to put in a gastric tube. I said no and check myself out, After this I wanted to stop meds slowly, she cut them off. After unnecessary withdrawal I got somewhat better before my face finally succumb to the staph and I was back in hospital needing surgery. Had to get an IV line that fed into my hart and CAD pump. Had Hart attack 10 months after. There's more to this story but no room.

Dr. Helman has no concern for anything but the bottom line. She over prescribes pain meds in a manner that would put Elvis's doctor to shame. She prescribed anti-depressants on top of other anti-depressants without informing of possible drug reactions. She made inappropriate personal comments, and preached to me as if she were a member of the clergy providing family counseling. When I was unable to make payments, she cut off my pain meds in an unsafe manner. She said to me "consider me your bank" in regards to my bill. Since I stopped seeing her I am able to function once again.
