Dr. Dockrill is one of the worst doctor's I've ever been in contact with for my child. Although punctual, she lacks any real means to help your child. She recommends prescription drugs above all other methods or means. When you discuss your concerns with her she filters them and points you in the direction of other facilities or means that take months if not years to get into. If you need a prescription refilled or one that expires, good luck! She's a useless quack and I would never recommend her to others. Her staff are rude and seem uneducated- very high turnover here too.

Unfortunately, Dr Karen's extra services are no longer offered which is ashame. Having a Dr.'s pager # is a lifeline in the middle of the night or on weekends when you can't otherwise get to see a Dr. unless you want to go to the emergency room. Before we found Dr. Dockrill we went to the emergency room with our 4 day old baby & it took us 48+ hours for a discharge. We were never able to get an appointment with a single pediatrician in Toronto let alone Durham Region(she wasn't sick enough.) Eventually given to a specialist in North York who told us to starve our then 2 year old child who was only eating puree's by syringe. After 4 days&almost 10lbs we stopped. That is when we found Dr.Karen. She gave our child an additional medication&within 2days was eating regular food&happy for the first time in 3yrs. The cost for a membership was equivilent to feeding my dog/mth. I am NOT rich but made it work for my child! Sad it's no longer allowed as it was a great addition to our health care.

Use to be helpful when you paid a membership fee, now that you can no longer do that, she is quick and rude. It is almost as if she no longer wants to see her old patients. Her new nurse/ dr from another country is difficult to understand and is not good with children. It took me four phone calls and two days to get them to fax over an urgent referral for my sick child.

we have been dealing with my 5yr old daughter's difficulties for a few years now. i asked her former paediatric specialist about asperger's, since i already have one child with it and i was seeing parallels. she categorically ruled it out within a 10min visit then lectured me for 5min on my daughter's obesity. THANK THE GODS i found Dr Karen and her receptionist, Dolores! they come to minden every few weeks. she spent over 90min going over my daughter from head to toe (literally) and said she absolutely believes my daughter has asperger's based on observations during the visit, prev medical history, and her performance during assessment. my daughter has NEVER smiled during a dr visit before - w Dr Karen, she didn't stop smiling and giggling, even when it was time to look down her throat. she also has no problem at all w saari's weight bec saari is also tall for her age so she's proportional, n/m what the machine says. CANNOT RECOMMEND HIGHLY ENOUGH.

It is NOT $1000 to see a doctor. The fee's the mom and baby depot charge are for everything else that is needed - Seminars, classes, etc. It is idiotic to think that many simply see a cost and don't look into what is involved. My wife and I are older parents and were a little scared when we learned of our pregnancy - Quiet frankly we likely never would have made it without Karen Dockrill. There were classes and seminars for everything we needed and following our childs birth EVERY SINGLE TIME we had questions or concerns she returned our calls within 30 minutes. The peace of mind alone she provided us with is priceless. I simply can't say enough about her. We recently moved away and we are considering the hour long drive to see her as I find it difficult to believe that we will find a better pediatrician.

Dr. Karen has been a wonderful pediatrician to our daughter. She has always made us feel like all our questions were important, no matter how silly they actually were. Any concerns we had regarding our daughter were always taking seriously & the staff reciprocated as well. The staff at Dr. Karen's office are always knowledgable, gentle, kind & show a great deal of compassion.

Dr. Karen is an amazing doctor. She has been assisting our family for the last 2 years and we could not be happier. Though paying a membership fee is different as many people are not use to it, it is well worth the money. As you are not paying just to see the doctor but to participate in workshops and other activities in the centre. Someone is always available and we cna rest better knowing that she is just a phone call away night or day.

Canada offers free health care, when I walked in I was shocked to learn that there is a membership fee of 1000$ to see the doctor.

Dr. Karen Dockrill continues to make a tremendous impact in our lives through her and her teams focused approach to family-centred medicine. I read the comments posted previously and would like to point out the the Ministry of Health suggested (imposed) the screening rules during the flu "crisis." Our daughter suffered through chronic ear infections and a previous family doctor that would simply ask what ear and then prescribe the antibiotics. Dr Dockrill helped us form a treatment plan, was always available to review the treatment and results, and quickly found us the right referral to a specialist who solved the problem. Our son continues to have ongoing and as yet undiagnosed health problems and Dr Karen continues to lead the charge to treat/deal with and diagnose his issues by working as "the team leader" as I think of it, and getting the specialist at Sick Kids to continue looking into the case. Sometimes appts. run a little late, but you never feel rushed.
