Doesn't care about patients and their time. Comes in 60 mins behind schedule and is like, oh, is someone cranky? Yes my 18 month old is cranky after we arrived on time for our appointment and you wasted our time. We were the first people on the schedule. I work in healthcare and I'm never more than 15 mins behind. I wouldn't mind the wait if he was competent but then he proceeded to not follow up with imaging results or referrals. I never would send anyone his way.

He is amazing! I would wait hours if I had to just to see him. I would rather wait for a doctor than not have one at all. These doctors are under a lot of pressure and we need to be more understanding. Amazing experience always. 10 out of 10

I have known this physician for about 20 years. Is the wait time long? Yep, BUT that's because he is spending the time with the pediatric patients and the parents WHO NEED THE EXTRA TIME. Is he a bit eccentric? Yep, but that's what helps all the pediatric patients feel at ease. Yes he is there to provide the parents the information and guidance but if our children learn to fear doctors then they will always know to fear them. My children are better children for having met and grown up with this man.
Are the staff appearing rushed or not being overly friendly that day? Probably because they just got yelled as for the appointments being late, meanwhile they are trying to micromanage all the paperwork just for the office as well as all the details of critical patients who get referred to Dr MacDonald. Between this physician and his team you should be LUCKY to have him taking care of your child. You don't like it? Go find another physician who will cater to you.

I have never waited less than 45 minutes. Usually more like an hour even when I'm the first patient of the day. Daughter failed MCHAT and he didn't care. Called me 6 months after an ultrasound for our child to tell us the results. Absolutely no respect for patients of their families. Will not be coming back.

Dr. Rick lacks empathy and has 0 respect for parents who have been waiting for over an hour on a scheduled appointment for kids, besides the fact we are always 5 mins early on scheduled appointment time. Not sure if treatment is with people of color or in general as I have been reading and seeing mixed reviews on him.

Nice doctor but zero appreciation for patient's time. Has been late for every appointment. 15 min, 30 min, 1 hour late. Parents dealing with infants, newborns, etc deserve a little more respect.

Excellent physician! He epitomizes the highest level of patient care. Dr. Rick and team have cared for our family for years they offer an incomparable experience for children and advanced knowledge as health professionals.

He is horrible! “Fired” us when we asked for more information regarding vaccines he was wanting to give our daughter at her three month check up. I asked for the insert and he got frustrated and told me to go home and Google anything I wanted to know and if we chose to not vaccinate he would no longer treat us. We thought we liked him at first, his 45-50min waits were annoying and after his showed his true colours and complete lack of care and rudeness we knew there was nothing worth waiting for with this doctor. Save yourself your time and look elsewhere

These wait times are insane! Waited 75 minutes with a baby and 3 year old. No respect for other people’s time, horrible scheduling and time management. Ridiculous!

Dr. Rick has been our children's pediatrician since birth, going on almost 9 years. While it is true that during periods of time, there have been extra long wait times, and the receptionist may benefit from a personality adjustment - we deal with it because Dr. Rick is a very educated, knowledgeable and highly skilled doctor. The main priority is our children's health and through the years of seeing him, he has established that trust. He has an eccentric & unique personality, his humour is sarcastic and he does not have a filter. His concern is not you or your feelings - he will tell you things straight up , like it or not - he does not sugar-coat anything. His priority is the children's health and well-being. He is very good with children. He speaks to them, jokes with them and my children are not scared or threatened by him at all. In fact, they find him pretty funny. From the negative comments on this site, it seems like it's just the parents who feel entitled to be treated in some sort of way by him and are disappointed when they are not. Imagine having to treat the number of kids a day that he sees AND being expected to deal with the sensitivities of all of these parents! I don't think anyone could be paid that much.
