My first visit with Dr Moreno we discussed my endocrine system (hormones) at the conclusion of the visit his staff informed me that because we discussed hormones there was a $50 cash charge on top of him billing my insurance (first red flag). Next he recommended that I take an estrogen blocker that he wanted to sell me for $45 per pill. When I looked up the particular drug he recommended, I could purchase it at a pharmacy for less then a dollar per pill (2nd red flag). Every time I went to his office it smelled like excrement. His staff barely spoke english and was always rude as if I was unwelcome or inconveniencing them. He seemed unprofessional to me, he always wore a polo shirt instead of a doctors coat and always mispronounced words that someone with a phd shouldn't. My last visit with him his office staff asked me before hand if we would discuss my hormones, I told them not if it was going to cost me another $50. A few weeks later I got a letter in the mail saying he would no longer see me and I needed to find another primary care physician ( I had never heard of a patient being fired by a doctor). Definitely not a doctor I would recommend.

I started seeing Dr. Moreno over the summer. I realized he was a different kind of primary care physician and accepted that some of his charges would be outside of what my insurance paid. My thought was I either had SUCKER tattooed across my forehead or this guy was going to help me. Turns out I did have SUCKER tattooed across my forehead.

I participated in his metabolic detox, which with supplements and stool test, cost me nearly $400. I did the 28 day detox and must admit I felt wonderful. To me, it had been worth every penny. Then we moved on to my GI issues. This required a food sensitivity blood test that cost me $129.00 out of pocket. My third visit to Dr. Moreno, with more supplements and such cost me almost $300.00. I still believed in the man and his methods. At the end of the visit I was informed that I would have to pay a 2.5% surcharge to use my credit card. I thought this was absurd, but didn't have a choice. I didn't have $300 laying around. I continued to be uncomfortable about this surcharge. Isn't it a cost of doing business for him? He's raking in the bucks on his supplements. I can't afford $700 every two months, but I was willing to pay to feel better, now I felt like he was taking advantage of me. I did some research and found IT IS ILLEGAL IN FLORIDA FOR BUSINESSES, INCLUDING DOCTORS, TO CHARGE YOU A SURCHARGE FOR USING A CREDIT CARD FOR PAYMENT!!!!! They can offer a discount for those paying cash, but cannot penalize you for using a credit card. The exception to this law is government entities.

The day of my scheduled visit to go over my food sensitivity blood work results, I brought a copy of the statute to Dr. Moreno, he had all kinds of excuses for why he has the surcharge. When I informed him it was ILLEGAL, he said he would look into it. As I was checking out, after a 10 minute visit with him, I was told the charge was $75.00. I questioned the charge because my insurance co-pay is $25 to my primary care. I was then informed that since the blood test was outside my primary care services Dr. Moreno charges an ADDITIONAL $50.00!!!! Now I am wondering if that $50.00 was slipped in at each of my visits. I am waiting on itemized bills that I never asked for before.

This doctor will nickel and dime you to death. If you are on a fixed income, do not go to him for your primary care. I have watched every patient walk out with a bag of supplements, these are NOT included in your insurance plan. I do not believe he should be combining his practice with primary care and homeopathic care. He DOUBLE BILLS YOU, in my opinion. I did report him to my insurance company and they noted my complaint. They also stated there wasn't anything they could do unless other patients complained. So the double bill may not technically be illegal or fraud, but it sure feels that way.

Anyway, I am now in search of a new primary care physician. I just wanted to share my personal experience with this doctor because I want people to beware of some of his less than stellar practices.

Doctor is a rude and arrogant man. Doesn't listen to or answer your questions. Pushes his own medications yet doesn't tell you what they are and what they are for, just that you need to take them. Very unprofessional as a doctor, dresses like he just came in from the farm and has dirty fingernails.

Dr. David Moreno is an excellent physician. David, Brett and the office staff are outstanding. They have put my health back on the right path after years of not having the proper treatment. He is treating my thyroid disease and hormones. I tell everyone to see him.

Found out about this doctor on a local radio ad, specialized in HRT. Initially they did major blood work for HRT did put me on a regimen for that in which I HAD to go back EACH month for a prescription, there after for another health issue join pain that I was experiencing all the doctor wanted to offer was vitamins that he sells in his office, I am all for holistic care but, let's find out the answer to the question/problem before medications/vitamins come into play. Most of what he offers is NOT covered by the insurance he accepts so you are paying out of pocket and my one visit set me back $285.00 for vitamins - a "nutritional" session (which I was NOT there for nor informed of UNTIL I went to pay) it seems as if you ask a question other then what you are there for - you get charged for that) plus B-12 shots. It adds up quickly. Just use your own judgment this is my personal experience and I was not happy with it or them to say the least.
