He's not there to help. At any given time you tell him a sympton he has a stupid answer for it like - it's all in your head. He always refers issues to other professionals as well. He has never checked anything- blood pressure. He really doesn't care. I said to him one time " I want to make sure I'm not going to die" He said, "but you will died... just not from this" Are you kidding me? punctuality is there becasue he's never busy. No one wants to see him

Well I have a thing or two to say in Dr. M's defence...
He has been my family doctor since 1986, I was 13 years old. I am now 42 and wouldn't go anywhere else. I will be terribly upset when he retires.

He has helped me through 6 pregnancies (2 successful), Type 1 diabetes, depression, pneumonia, anaemia, a ruptured disc resulting in surgery, skin cancer, carpal tunnel, bursitis and too-many-to count coughs, colds, and flu's that probably didn't require a visit but gladly saw me just the same. He has taken on both kids, my ex-husband, my new husband, my sister and mother, all while 'not accepting new patients'.

Anyone who has anything bad to say doesn't know him and maybe needs a counsellor or psychologist to whine and complain at, not a competent doctor.

Is very sad to see Dr. Raul Martinez going down side. He was a good Doctor long time ago, at this point in his life look that he is tired and in bad mood all the time. He shouldn't be allowed to work anymore! he doesn't have what it takes to be on the job of been a Doctor anymore!! If you try to explain to him all your symptoms and what situation are going through that may contributing to your illness, his answer is and why are telling me that? is like he is telling you and why should I care that you are going through that? is not very logic! He supposed to be caring? that is the advice that you hear everywhere, talk to you doctor is something is bothering you, ether physically or mentally? and if you said I think is this sickness that I getting, his answer is, are you a doctor? then what are you coming to see me. He try to pressure to speak the less possible and start to write ether a prescription, giving you no time to ask question of what is the best options for your illness or an order to send you for test (blood, urine, etc.) for which one you never hear the result from them until you call ask for it. He really doesn't care. So I think that a Doctor like him is a waste on time and money for many of the really sick people that actually need to be diagnosed and treated the way should be.
I don't understand why living in Canada there is not an agency in charge from time to time to check how practitioners play with the health of thousand of lives with out any regards.

My mother-in-law's doc for 15+ years through several health issues that took an extremely long time to diagnose, even when family members guessed rightly what her issues were. She had a near fatal bout of food poisoning resulting in such severe dehydration that medics couldn't find a blood pressure and she spent a month in hospital. The doctor's advice over the phone had been for her to "lick salt off crackers." He treated her breast cancer and 11 years later when she couldn't eat, had abdominal pain, a persistent skin sore, and a bulging eye, he simply gave her eye ointment and a few inconclusive tests, then a mammogram came back & we learned she was riddled with breast, brain, liver, lung & bone cancer. She died 15 days later. Hospital doctors were amazed and thought she'd never seen a doctor even though she saw Dr. M sometimes WEEKLY. Dr. Martinez NEVER CAME TO HOSPITAL, NEVER CONTACTED THE FAMILY even though my father-in-law was his patient, NEVER acknowledged her illness/death.

Not attentive. Doesn't listen to problem. Quick on writing prescription without examination.

He is not my doctor, he is my grandmother's doctor. Right now trying to get him to diagnose her properly has been very trying. Our family has a medical background in particular to the geriatric population. We've seen the decline in her cognition, but he doesn't believe us. When he asks her questions it's more affirmation statements that she can easily agree with. Anytime you question him, he immediately becomes defensive. I find him RUDE, CONDESCENDING, and lacking up to date information. Very poor quality practitioner. There are better out there.

I have been seeing Dr Martinez for 25 years and I have found him extremely thorough and helpful. My daughter thinks he is the best doctor ever. My husband has only just come to Canada and Dr Martinez said he wanted to sort out the problem that he has had with his eyes since childhood, in his own country no one was ever bothered to do this. For a family doctor, he is just great. All my extended family are with him.

My husband has had excellent care for 25 years. Referred to specialists as required & ailments treated quickly, including cancer diagnosis. My dr retired recently & I am very pleased with attention from Dr Martinez to date - excellent discussions, testing and a referral for follow up.

Was one of his first patients 29 yrs ago, I moved and now would like to have him as my Dr. once more. I recall his thoroughness and explainations being so unmatched by other Drs.

I don't feel that he takes concerns seriously. He seems to be biting his time before retirement.
