Dr. John Slater is absolutely wonderful. He is the primary doctor for our 2 year old son. We got to see him often because our son was sick a lot in the first 1.5 years of daycare. He is always gentle, calm, attentive, knowledgeable and great with our son. He has never expressed or hinted any of his personal opinions and is always very professional. We usually see Dr. Slater at our favorite office in Oakland, the staff is friendly and the receptionist Jenny is fantastic. Paramus and Tenafly offices are great too although Paramus is busier. We have not been to the other offices. We've also seen Dr. Sumarokov, Dr. Stiefel, Dr. Lindenberg, Dr. Sugarman and Dr. Menasha. They are all wonderful. Dr. Kim came to the hospital when our son was born and was rather cold. I'm not speaking to her abilities as a physician and 2 years later she may be nicer now. We almost always see Dr. Slater when we request him and especially for well visits.

I chose Dr. Slater as a pediatrician for my first child on a recommendation of a co-worker and have been very happy. He has seen my son three times now and each time he is extremely respectful and I feel very comfortable with him.

Dr. Slater took care of my daughter’s health needs for 17 years and must say that I could not have had a better care giver, knowledgeable, caring, always attentive, very patient and easily approachable. THE BEST!

Our in laws swear by Dr. Slater. And I think he is a very knowledgable man. We were considering changing doctors and brought our daughter to him for a consult and it was fine. The second time we brought her we thought she may have had a UTI. My daughter was apprehensive about having a male doctor, which he sensed, and said not to worry becuase he would not be examining her. And he did not. Without examining her or running so much as a urine test, he decided the problem was she was not wiping well enough. After that we decided to go elsewhere.

We feel so lucky that Dr. Slater is our pediatrician. No matter how large or small the concern, he takes the time to give it 100% of his attention. Our son was jaundiced at birth and Dr. Slater called us out of the blue on a Sunday (when he wasn't on call)to give us information that he thought would be useful. Truly an extraordinary doctor.

Did not like him. He did not was his hands before examining my son and if that was not enough he put his unwashed hands in his mouth and refused to remove them when I asked him to. Did not go back. Actually left the practice.

Wonderful doctor. Extremely knowledgeable, patient and caring. Never rushes his patients, always listens to parents concerns. Dr. Slater welcomes questions and never makes you feel as though any question is silly. He takes the time to let his patients become comfortable with him before beginning the examination. His office staff is extremely friendly and professional(expecially Oakland). I needed physical forms and working papers filled out and they completed them in a day. The previous pratice was very rude (after 32 yrs. as a patient)and said it would take 3 weeks for a camp form. I had to become very asserative to get it filled out in 8 days. Approx. 28 yrs. ago, Dr. Salter began treating my middle son and now my grandson is his patient. I have recommended Dr. Slater to new moms I work with, and they have been so happy with the personal attention their children receive. Nothing is more precious than our children and it's wonderful to find a doctor to whom you can put your trust.
