If only zero were an option. He told me that kids don’t get strep throat. My son was suffering from crippling panic attacks and he said it was a learned behaviour and he should not watch the Disney channel and told me not to seek counselling for him as it takes too long to get in. When my daughter was diagnosed with asthma at 5. He went on a rant about how he watched kids die from asthma so he is the expert on children with asthma causing my daughter to be afraid of dying. And my personal favourite was when my sister was diagnosed with a genetic heart defect and her cardiologist recommended that all the kids get checked and when I asked about it he said “your sister doesn’t have that”. He has never met my sister but somehow thought he knew better than the three specialists she has seen.

Children have been patients of Dr. Valaris' for 19 years. Dr. Valaris never pushes medications, has always referred to specialists when needed and advocates them to get in quicker. While he can be abrupt and come off arrogant, I trust my kids health in his hands. We don't wait for an appt as we don't abuse the system, his staff understands when I call, we need to be seen.

Diagnosed 1 of my kids adhd because they were spinning in circles at 4yo. Pushed my 12yo up against his office wall asking how do you like it, when I asked about behavior issues, and made inappropriate comments saying i need to put my child on birth control because she will be "getting around" soon. Told me to get my s**t together and spank my kids so they will listen. When I tried standing up for my kids he cussed and yelled at me and said I needed to grow up and get out of his office. The couple of visits I had before this he didn't listen to my concerns, talked over me, made comments about my parenting and told me to get over it when I had concerns about ppd. I wish I had stopped seeing him alot sooner. He is unprofessional and inappropriate towards girls and women.

Avoid this doctor at all costs. I was referred to Valaris for behavioral advice for my son. Valaris is completely incompetent and unprofessional. Dr. Valaris insisted on seeing his penis despite the fact that we were there for behavioral concerns not physical. While he was roughly examining his penis and testicles he assured me it was painless and necessary (it was not on either account), my son is still sore and very upset about it. When my son reached forward to protect himself, Dr. Valaris knocked his hands away. Valaris is a disgusting human being. He should be investigated, I don't like what I saw from Valaris in that room. I'd never leave Valaris alone with ANY child, and it goes without saying that we will never be back. We got absolutely no help from him at all, now my son is terrified all doctors are going to want to hurt his private parts for absolutely no reason at all.

Trust this Dr with my most treasured possessions, my kids. He is patient, knowledgeable and always willing to take the time to explain things to us as parents. We have been going to him for over 15 yrs with 4 children. The Staff and Nurse are as friendly and helpful as Dr Valaris is.

17 year old female. First appointment went in for ADHD diagnoses (10 min app). Asked two questions; does a family member have ADHD, and why do I need medication, then started prescribing right away (never actually diagnosed me or went through proper diagnosis process). I responded to previous question saying I have trouble focusing so he proceeded to ask when I do homework. Then when I answered, he told me I needed to get my s**t together. After, I asked about possible side effects, he only told me about emotional side effects. Then inferred it would be a bigger concern for my boyfriend instead of me. Then as I was getting up to leave (he already initiated app was over), immediately switched topic to birth control and sex when that was never a concern and told me to sit back down. Told me I needed to be on birth control despite me explaining past experiences, so then referred me to a gyno. Also made inappropriate comments about how boys would treat me/what they would want to do to me. Swore multiple times. Talked to me like he was trying to belittle me. Left crying due to the way he was talking to me/treated me (not because of sex topic). Second appointment a parent came with so I would feel more comfortable. Was a follow up about medication. Again was swearing and appeared to belittle us. When addressing one concern about dosage being too high, talked to parent in all medical terminology so it was difficult for them to understand. Parent was not impressed and was also uncomfortable by communication and treatment. Now in process of switching doctors.
