Does anyone know where his medical records for patients went ? I've been trying for many years to find them with no luck and many dead ends?

I’ve been a diabetic for nearly 20 years, diagnosed at 10 years old. As a child, I saw Dr. Best for a couple of years. My stepfather brought me to the last appointment I ever had with him. Dr Best was feeling for injection site lumps on my stomach, but ended up feeling incredibly too long and too far from the injection sites. Both myself and my step father left incredibly uncomfortable and my parents never made me go back. After reading someone else shared this experience, I wonder how many others have.

I've moved many times which resulted in many endos. Dr best is by far the worst doctor I have encountered. His knowledge on the insulin pump was minuscule with little support behind the technology. He made me feel uncomfortable during exams and gave advice that had adverse effects on my glucose levels

Our son has been a Type 1 diabetic for over 15 years and just recently had to visit a new endocrinologist due to Dr. Best retiring. It is only now, that I realize how spoiled we've been with Dr. Best as our son's physician. I'm not going to lie, when our son was first diagnosed we struggled with the Canadian Diabetic food guidelines. Specifically, the consumption of aspartame. We were questioned numerous times about what we were going to feed our son but as the years and many checkups went by it was obvious we had our son's best interest and with outstanding blood sugars, active lifestyle we were no longer questioned but complimented on our son's success living with Type 1 Diabetes. Dr. Best was on it every appointment helping our very busy son with adjustments to keep our son safe during his very busy athletic life. We miss him immensely and I only hope we find someone as caring and willing to take the time to help our son manage his diabetes as an adult.

Shame on Dr. Best for malnourishing me and other type 1 diabetic former patients for so many years. How could someone, especially with a medical degree, think it would be a good idea to bully growing children to eat meal plans based upon two-thirds of the minimum calories as laid out in the Canada Food Guide? Another diabetic and I had to ask our physical education teacher if we could be allowed not to take part in the healthy eating curriculum because we were not allowed to eat that much for our gender and age group in the Canada Food Guide. I did not find it funny being called anorexic in school and it is terrible that I lost most of my teeth due to only being allowed to drink 375 ml of milk per day as a child and teenager. He actually thought the side effects of malnourishment were the symptoms of diabetes. His treatment was worse than the disease. All we have to look forward to now later in life is osteoporosis and other unnecessary complications. From the comments below the sad thing is it sounds like he is worse now. I feel so sad for that lady who Dr. Best claims is a bad parent for apparently ‘starving’ her son. Dr. Best probably made her son too scared to eat. Parents please ensure you stay with your children and teenagers during appointments. He once rubbed my thighs for way too long after feeling for injection site lumps. Good thing I gave him a very mean glare at the time.

Not sure why anyone would bash Dr.Best. He is the best doctor I have ever had the priviledge of meeting. He has treated my son since he was 2.5 years old and he is thirteen now. If it wasn't for Dr. Best being persistent, and looking out for my son's best interest, I don't know where he would be. My husband and I were in denial and Dr Best gently pushed us to get the testing done. He was right of course. Dr Best truly cares about his patients, and he is ALWAYS on time. My son can thank Dr Best for giving him he best life possible.

I believe that the only people that bring their children to see this man are people that honestly dont know any better or cannot go out of the province or to another city for care. When we moved to Saskatoon by type 1 son aged 2.5 yrs was on an insulin pump and he had great blood sugars. Dr Best wanted to take him off the insulin pump and put him on needles. The NERVE. My son had great A1Cs and is and was doing amazing on a pump.He also suggested I give him all of his fast acting insulin for his 11am snack at 8am in the morning. How on earth would that work? Sometimes at 11am he is low and doesnt even need insulin. This man is a horrible doctor, has no idea how to care for diabetic children in the year 2011. I feel sorry for all the families that are stuck with this man and all the lives he is hurting. I also heard of a patient of his paying for her own pump and he told her if she went on a pump to never seek help from him again. RUN from this man if he is recommended!!!!!!

We have been working with Dr. Best for about 4 years. He was excellent from the start and remains to have good bedside manners with my daughter. However when we have continues to have repeated concerns with her symptoms and very unstable blood test results he disregarded everything we were saying. On a few occasions he had even walked out of the room while we were in conversation. After one year of our concerns not even thought about I requested a second opinion, which has taken us out of province. Even with the request to go out of province he still denied any problems other than saying well there might be this other disorder happening because of the tumour in my daughters brain. He did not know much about it so I looked it up at home after the apt and found that he SHOULD have known about it as it is part of his specialty in endocirnology. Glad we got the referral elsewhere!

I love Dr Best, he took good care of my infant daughter in diagnosing and finding treatment for her. He also took the time to educate us as parents so we could understand her illness, the treatment and also the dietary changes that would be necessary for her health.
