Dr Welker was my VA primary care. I saw him at the Framingham CBOC. I found him condescending and too hurried to actually listen or understand the situation. He could never help me with any of my problems, and when he said he'd refer me to specialists, those referrals never went through. When I requested to transfer to another doctor's office, the CBOC cancelled my request without notifying me, causing me to be unable to make appointments with a doctor for over 6 months.

I previously wrote a review for Dr. Welker. My comments could be taken out of context. I was upset at not being fully aware of some information in my records. I do not think he is a bad doctor or has done anything illegal. He is actually a very good one, but his beside manner and impatience are sometimes not helpful. I would like to add this edit to my previous rating.

Dr. Welker was my longtime primary. He was never good interpersonally, but knowledgeable and professional. However, in recent years Dr. Welker did not inform me of several important test results. I can be very anxious and probably annoying. But not informing me of test results which proved detrimental to my health is devastating to me. At one point, he denied face to face that I had one potentially very serious medical problem (on the computer screen), and was very sarcastic. His behavior has been disrespectful, inexcusable and unethical, and I feel betrayed and angry. These issues are right there on my records. I do not know what happened to him. But having these problems now feel even worse, knowing I could have had earlier tests and treatments to improve outcomes. I would not go to this doctor. Patient care is not his top priority now. He is too busy with other matters. BTW, his staff is great, I am not questioning them at all. He used to be a good doctor.

Dr Welker is very intelligent and very professional. I have complete confidence in his judgement. If he is uncertain of something he will say so (a rarity among physicians). These are the reasons I continue to use him for primary care. That said, his interpersonal skills are so appallingly bad that it is almost comical. He is a master at the disdainful sneer. If you are looking for a doctor who is empathetic, this is not the man for you.

Dr. Welker is a tremendous doctor. He is very attentive, very responsive, and very professional. His office is unbelievably punctual. Many times I have waited fewer than five minutes to be seen. The last time I went I was called before I could even finish paying my copay. Dr. Welker explains things in plain English and makes sure I understand his diagnosis. He is matter of fact and it takes a while to appreciate his dry wit, but he's friendly and professional. He suggests appropriate tests and follows up quickly after finding out the results. Recently I had an MRI and he contacted me the same day with the results and suggested next steps. His office is very well run, and the nurses and staff are friendly and professional. I highly recommend Dr. Welker.

Dr. Welker is a very good doctor. He is really thorough and knowledgeable. He runs a very punctual practice (don't plan on being late). He is rather serious and doesn't waste time on small talk so get to the point with him. It took me a while to appreciate him as he can come off as cold but I'm glad he's my doctor.
