We were worried after seeing the negative reviews of Dr Barkan. However our experience, in August 2016, was very positive. He was the first doctor we have seen who really listened to my wife's symptoms. After at least 3 years of seeking help, we found it with Dr Barkan and are very thankful to him and the U of M Health System. They are the best

I am a chronically ill man who came to see Dr. Barkin as a last resort. I have seen a plethora of Dr's. over the last 15 years, but I have never met a more arrogant, rude, and narcessistic Dr. in all my years of being a full time patient. He provided absolutely no help, and told me I just have to live with my condition. He denied that the brain is plastic (neuroplasticity) and said that it's nothing but a big word. How does a U of M Dr. who is supposed to be knowledgeable about the brain dispute what science has already proven? He is literally the worst Dr. ever and has absolutely no business being in the profession. He interupted me several times when I tried to explain what I was dealing with, and he somehow thinks all Dr's who don't agree with all his philosophies are idiots. It doesn't get worse than this.

Someone at UMHS needs to check in on this doctor. Terrifying that he is in the position that he is and dangerous to patients and UMHS. They probably don't really care in the end. My current endo is great, but I wanted a second opinion to ensure we are optimizing my treatment. Like other have said...he told me it's all mental, nothing is wrong with me, go off all medication. Without getting in to too many details on my condition, that is crazy dangerous advice. Actually told me twice that if I were his daughter he would smack me for taking one of the more holistic medications that I am on. Yep. He'd smack me. I seriously think he may have some mental issues. Not trying to pick on the guy, but it's almost unreal. Please don't waste your time with this doctor.

This doctor was a rude moron! He asked me what my symptoms were and as I was telling him he interrupted me and asked if I had a monthly period I told him yes and he ended the appointment right there he told me that I was healthy and making things up I started sobbing and even my mother was yelling my symptoms at him! He wouldn't listen to us! I told him I never had acne in my life until 5 years ago and I knew it was something in my body causing it! He told me I just have bad skin and to go on accutane. When I told him my reasons for.l not going on accutane he told me to go home and Google the symptoms and see if it what I was telling him was even true. He made fun of me the entire appointment because I brought films in instead of a cd and I had to snap at him and tell him his staff should have told me to bring a cd! Ps I went to him because they found a pit tumor and my prolactin levels were high. He told me my prolactin levels were probably high because I was afraid of the needle and my tumor was nothing. Again my poor mom starts shouting my symptoms but he would not listen and kept acting like we were all insane! O and you should have seen the death stare got for telling him I went to a naturopathic doctor! Horrible horrible horrible experience!

Just saw he he was rude he reviewed my MRI which clearly show ...with report a 5mm tumor he said forget. The tumor! And said all the symptoms I was having. didn't matter and I was just fat

Doctor spent about 1/2 with me on a second opinion basis. Answered all my questions, was very knowledgeable. Had a dry sense of humor but was pleasant to talk to. When he was reviewing the records on the computer he didnt like me talking which was good because he was concentrating. Was very concerned with my condition and came up with his opinion which I will be following. The appointment was made within 1 week, staff was courteous, the place was immaculate. I would recommend him to any of my friends.

My appointment with Dr. Barkan was nothing short of horrific. While my appointment was a few weeks ago I am finally getting around to writing this review. I have a complicated history and was previously treated by a Cleveland Clinic endocrinologist. Dr. Barkan was rude and would not let me explain my history and conditions. If he listened my medical condition would have made sense. He trashed my previous doctor and claimed there was nothing medically wrong with me, I need a psychiatrist. Seems to be a pattern based off other reviews. It takes a long time to get in to UofM endocrinology...don't waste your time. I hope this helps others.

This is the worst doctor I have ever been to. He offered absolutely no medical help. He scoffed at previous diagnoses, and he was horribly rude and insulting. I will never go to this doctor again. Seriously awful. Waited a long time for this appointment, and it was a total waste of time and put an important health issue even further behind.
