Dr. McCarthy by far is one of the best doctors I have seen in this city, as he really wants to help you with your issues and will work with you to get you feeling better soon.

I just wish there were more doctors like him out there!

Dr McCarthy has been my Rheumatologist for 25 years and I am very happy with his care. My original Rheumatologist was not able to control my arthritis sufficiently. I have even been able to get back to playing golf.
My only complaint is that he doesn’t always run on time. However I can see his practice is very busy like most specialists. There is a high demand for his time this to be expected.
Leslie his assistant is delightful. She is very accommodating and friendly

I am extremely happy to have Dr. McCarthy as my rheumatologist.

He diagnosed and treated me when my previous rheumatologist couldn't figure me out. He answers questions and is not adverse to me being an active partner in my own health care (like my old rheumatologist, who did not like questions).

He is prompt to reply to concerns, is available in person or via telephone appointments, which is exceptionally helpful for immunocompromised patients.

His office is very busy, as are most specialists, but the wait times are not excessive. His assistant and the infusion clinic nurses are all helpful and pleasant. I highly recommend him and the staff at the Manitoba Clinic.

For several years, Dr McCarthy has provided me with excellent medical care. He has been instrumental in giving me my life back after struggling with bad flare ups due to psoriatic arthritis and am thankful that he continues to monitor me closely. I appreciate that he is accessible, approachable and always open to listening to my concerns. It has been difficult trying to navigate life with numerous health issues but Dr. McCarthy maintains communication with my other healthcare providers to ensure I remain medically stable.

I have a rare auto-immune disease that affects my vision. It is a progressive "blinding" disease for which there is no cure. Dr. McCarthy has taken pains to research my condition and as a result of the medications he has prescribed for the past 8 years, I still have vision; I still live independently. Without him, I would be blind today. No words can express how grateful I am to him.

Dr. McCarthy took me from using a cane, in pain, and heading for a wheelchair to a miraculous recovery. I have my life back. I can now walk like I did 10 years ago.

I appreciate that he diagnosed my arthritis after 2 other Doctors didn't years ago but his continuity of care is questionable. I was left on high dose of an anti-inflammatory that damaged my liver...no follow ups for years on how I was going. All left in the hands of my GP. It was a pharmacist who alerted me to the damaging doses. Then it was very hard to get appointments. It's hard to describe the shortfall with him as Dr.....I guess I am looking for holistic care and support which he does not provide me. He hasn't physically examined me for over 30 years since my first appointment. Now on biologics I am struggling with symptoms that he seems to dismiss or just doesn't want to hear about. He blamed me for being non compliant with my meds when I complained of my continuing pain and discomfort. He had prescribed both meds with instructions that were not clear to me obviously. I agree with others that he likes you to sit there ...don't talk or make a noise. He yelled at me aggressively when I folded my prescription paper to put in my purse. Now I am so nervous seeing him...worried that I may do the wrong thing but upset I can't talk to him about my symptoms. Yes this relationship is not good. I realize I need to get another Dr who I can work with to find solutions in more emotionally healthy environment. I shouldn't be made to feel that I am the problem when I am reaching out for support.

My son and I are both under Dr McCarthys care. I find him helpful, kind, knowledgeable, and caring. He is thorough in discussing diagnosis and treatment plans. I’m blessed to be in his care. I made a mistake for a blood test that was booked, and his receptionist was very quick to sort that out. I know it must have been frustrating, but she handled it well. I know they’re very busy, and I grateful for their time and effort.
