Dr. Green is worth the wait if you have Celiac, non celiac gluten intolerance or other unresolved GI issues. He has changed my life for the better in so many ways. When he runs tests, he calls if there is a complicated result. When not (and even after you speak if it is) he sends you copies of everything with a handwritten interpretation and follow up instructions. He has squeezed me in last minute a number of times when I had an urgent problem, though routine visit wait times can average 3 months even for a follow up of an established patient. I waited 8 months to see him for the first time back in 2011 and am so thankful I did. He also referred me to so many other competent providers (PCP, allergist, GYN) that are great too. He takes his time with me in office visits and really seems to care how I'm doing. A few times he has asked me to call to let him know how I'm doing and when I do - he calls me back or sends me a note in response. All that said, his office staff is straight up terrible. For example - had to reschedule an appt 6 weeks ago and am still waiting for them to get back to me 3 phone calls later. If they don't answer, keep calling back - leaving messages is a complete waste of time re: routine office matters. They have also botched my insurance and prescriptions a few times, but have corrected the latter pretty quickly. Dr. Green is so great he is worth them, the shlep uptown and the wait for appointment times.

Clearly Dr. Green is the original expert in celiac disease. I don't know whether he can really help me, as it's impossible to get an appointment with him, even when you're already a patient. His staff are beyond rude and unhelpful. It's very stressful even to go to his office, and medical tests are performed in the hall. Unprofessional.

Dr. Green is extremely competent and caring. I have celiac disease and was experiencing peripheral neuropathy shortly after diagnosis. None of my many specialist doctors could pinpoint the cause. Dr. Green screened for Biotin toxicity. My serum biotin was, in fact, high. This demonstrates an unusually efficient and informed diagnostic acumen. Dr. Green is the best doctor on the East Coast for those with celiac disease.

Re the fee- it was not first visit- that costs more. Dr. Green is incredibly knowledgeable for one reason-it is his reason to live to study this disease- it is his passion. I am 59 and his staff is impossible in the beginning. Once they get to know you it gets better. Not because they like you but because it is a clinic in CB hospital and all funding is put into research. If you like him struggle along with the staff- it gets better. He is the only doc that does a procedure and then mails a total report to the patient-AMAZING! Also just went to him and he ran tests and sent a handwritten note with script for a med I needed due to a nutritional deficiency that he found with testing. People with GI disease need this kind of guidance. Dr. Green is dedicated.

In my opinion, I would not recommend this physician. I found him to be hostile and not collaborative. Most importantly he was way off mark in terms of accurately disgnosing my condition as well as using experimental lab tests that were incorrect in terms of the results as well as causing unncessary anxiety. As noted by other posters, he did not return calls/faxes in a timely manner. In addition his office staff were impolite and unhelpful.

Waited 4 months to get an appointment with Dr Green at the Celiac Center. Although he was through in his examination he blantantly asked me what I wanted him to do about the condition. After the first meeting I received a phone call from him regarding tests he had ordered, it took 3 weeks to get the call. Repeated calls and faxes to his office requesting he call me, based on therapy that he placed me on, went unanswered. After approximately 4 months of calls without an answer I had my file transfered to another physician. Although he might be knowledgable in Celiac Sprue disease his inability to return phone calls and his staffs incompetence would leave me no alternative then to not recommend him. I believe he is more interested his Celiac Research then his patients. He does not accept insurance and his initial consultation is $500.00. Though they will give you insurance forms to file with your company and recover whatever they will pay.

Dr. Green was the best doctor I have ever met. He was thorough, professional in every respect, and inspired the utmost confidence. It's worth the wait to get to see him.
