Dr. Stanford is the best doctor I've ever had. She is very attentive with a great bedside manner. A few years ago, I had symptoms of a pinched nerve which ended up being an abscess in my spine caused by a streptocaucus virus. After 2 visits to the ER and treatments for a pinched nerve didn't work, I went to Dr. Stanford. She spotted the issue immediately, told me to go the ER for an MRI immediately. They found the virus and after 2 emergency surgeries and 3 weeks in hospital I recovered. Dr. Standford saved my life when others couldn't. She is great!

I have seen Ms. Stanford twice. On my first visit, I found her to be rushed and she did not address my questions about managing my allergies without prescription medications. My second visit was for lab work only, required to renew a prescription. When I requested an additional standard blood panel which is required for work, Ms. Standford refused to order it and said I should come in for an apointment, then come back for additional blood work. I work 50+ hours a week and do not have time for unnecessary appointments. I do not appreciate Ms. Staford refusing to order tests required for work and will not visit the office again.

She does not accommodate the needs of disabled patients. She is rigid and inflexible and cares more about her rules than her patients impairments that may require a little flexibility on occasion. She is obsessed with women wearing bras but cannot cite any research to substantiate her obsession with this device. Breast cancer rates are lowest in countries where women do not wear bras. No thanks to this uncritical doctor.

I am a generally healthy over 40 male. Dr. Stanford has been my PCP for many years. Sick-visit scheduling has generally been easy to obtain. Services have mostly been related to ear/nose/throat infections (Strep) and skin infections (Staph). A few years ago I had a serious MRSA infection. Dr. Stanford's diagnosis and the urgency with which she managed my pre-admission for orthopedic surgery at Virginia Hospital Center saved me from serious long-term consequences. I give this office (Stanford and Gorrelick) high marks for patient care. The only negative aspect of any service I've had there has been related to reception/waiting area staff -- sometimes a bit gruff and rushed.

I think Dr. Standford has a wonderful bedside manner, and I have enjoyed having her as both my primary care physician and gynecologist. As another reviewer said, she is very "present" at the appointment, really pays attention to you and your answers to her questions. When I changed jobs, Dr. Stanford's office was not covered by my new insurance provider. I was going to pay-out-of pocket, but Dr. Stanford's backlog of appointments is the reason I will be looking for a new doctor. There is generally a two month wait for appointments, and if you have to reschedule, you're looking at another two months. It's just too rigid a scheduling system, but otherwise, I think Dr. Stanford is fantastic.

I highly recommend Dr. Stanford and her staff. She listens to me, answers my questions in easy to understand language, and I trust her. I truly feels like she really cares about my health and well being. I also love her staff. Easy to get an appointment. Great follow up by her and her staff. Once, after being admitted to the hospital the staff proactively made me an appointment to follow up with Dr. Stanford. The staff and Dr. Stanford also called in a favor to get me an appointment with a specialist that I had not been able to get in to see. Dr. Stanford felt I really needed to see this specific specialist and made it happen for me. I highly recommend Dr. Stanford and her staff.

Unfortunately, the only people who seem to post are unhappy with their service. I have always had excellent care, excellent follow up, excellent responsiveness to urgent needs, excellent work with pharmacies. I don't know what happened to the people who made such negative remarks here, but they don't reflect a single experience of mine. These docs take time with patients, are thorough and kind. I have a lot of experience with Dr. Stanford, whom I can't recommend enough. I do have to say that sometimes people who are rude find rudeness in return.

Dr. Stanford was helpful and pleasant at my child's checkup. Then we had a scary experience: She checked my child for a possible infection and said we'd get a call with lab results. Next day, Mary from the office called to ask how my child was doing on the prescription. I said there must be a mixup, and I needed lab results. It took the rest of the afternoon playing phone tag to sort out, at the end of which Mary said the lab results were negative, but I should pick up a prescription "just in case." Then the prescription was left in a garbled message on the pharmacy answering machine, so the pharmacist was guessing as to how many days to take it! There was no one after hours in the practice to take calls to clear this up. Even on a phone call with the doctor later, I couldn't get a good explanation why my daughter needed the prescription. I worry Mary arranged it to save face. We changed doctors.
