I don't understand some of the negative comments about Dr. Stanford. She has been my primary care doctor for years. I have been in her office so many times and she couldn't be more helpful. She is great!

While I can't judge this doctor's skill, I CAN judge her office's scheduling practices. I understood when looking for a new dr. in DC that it's common for long waits to schedule an initial appointment, so I didn't hesitate when quoted a 2-month wait. Fast forward 7 weeks and my grandma dies and I have to go out of town. I call Premier Primary Care to reschedule my appointment the next week. Luckily (I thought), they make a point to advertise their "open scheduling" policy in which you can get day-of appointments for all but routine visits, meaning doctors' schedules are wide open even just days in advance. Silly me for presuming that patients could also benefit from this system to reschedule routine visits for which they've already waited two months under extreme circumstances like a death in the family. There's no way I'm waiting the additional 3 months (5 months total) I was quoted without an apology - I'd rather find a practice that cares about their patients as people vs. bodies.

I saw Dr. Julia Stanford when I had the flu. Dr. Stanford is one of those conveyor belt doctors... ship 'em in and ship 'em out as fast as possible. She is rather rude when she talks to you and fails to show any care for your situation. It was quite apparent that she had other patients to get to and that she was just treating me as one more number in her office. Not to mention, the office, although the lobby is standard, the rooms in which you are seen are rather small and cramped and clearly are still under renovation or were never finished. Overall I recommend for anyone who appreciates a doctor who makes you feel cared for, and not even to be babied, I would recommend you go else where.

I was very dissatisfied with Dr. Stanford. I went to her because my tonsils had been swollen for months. I was getting horrible soar throats and ear aches about every other week. At times I could barely swallow pills due to my swollen tonsils. I had also been diagnosed with strept throat at one point by an urgent care. Dr. Stanford told me that I probably just had allergies. She said I should see an alergist, drink more water, and wash my hands as often as I could. She said I should take Claritin and Flonase. I did, and they did not help anything. Instead of taking her advice of seeing an allergist, I went to an ear, nose, and throat specialist instead. Turns out I had chronic tonsillitis and needed a tonsillectomy. I had the surgery a few months ago and have not been sick since.

The office and nursing staff are the issues I have with this office. Very inefficient with high turnover. Dr. Stanford is very present when she is with me. Remembers me and my issues from one visit to the next. Caring, gentle, concerned.

Does not follow up even for urgent matters. Other doctors in the practice actually followed up for her. I would consider seeing this other doctor in the office who did actually follow up (Dr. Gorrelick) but not Dr. Stanford.

if you need dr. stanford to follow up or answer questions after you have left the office, which includes fixing a prescription that was miswritten, forget about it. their office has not returned a single call. Basically, it seems like she doesn't care about you as a patient at all once you leave the office.

Dr. Stanford is a thorough physician who listens to my complaints and does a good job of figuring out what underlying issues may be present. She is on a staff of crack physicians who understand and read up on the latest research and studies that are going on around the world and can weigh in on my medical issues in a substantial way. I love this doctor, but all in the practice are at least very good if not great.

My first visit with Dr. Stanford was awful. I had gone to Gorrelick before and now wish I had waited until she returned to make another appointment. All that was supposed to be done was have results of a CT scan I had done a few days prior read and instead, against Gorrelicks original intentions, Stanford prescribed a medication for migraines. In addition, she implied that she believed I was anorexic when I told her about some shakiness I experienced after I ate. I thought it was interesting to see that my experience was similar to the first entry on the board. I will not be returning to Stanford but I intend to see Gorrelick again.

Dr. Stanford characterized many of the issues I have with doctors in general. Visit was to determine potential sinus infection. She focused on high blood pressure instead. Without considering factors that might contribute to elevated blood pressure [a week plus on sudafed, prolonged difficulty breathing due to congestion, general white coat issues] she immediately prescribed blood pressure medicine and focused on the reason for the visit as a secondard issue. We left the office, did not fill the bp script [or the antibiotic for the sinus infection since we were now questioniong her thoroughness] and stopped taking the sudafed. Blood pressure returned to normal almost immediately. Sinus infection has essentially cleared up on its own and Mucinex is taking care of the allergy related congestion. We will not be returning to her for additional care. We're new in town and had hoped to find a primary care physician in this practice. It won't be happening.
