Dr. Kassenoff has been my OBGYN for 20 years and I have to say, she's the luckiest doctor choice I've ever made. I made an appt with her when I fist graduated college because, well, she was close and took my insurance. And it turns out I hit the jackpot with someone kind, extremely skilled, compassionate, always timely and who really listens. She has never given me a piece of bad advice. And obyn is like a dentist -- you don't really look forward to seeing one -- but Dr. Kassenoff comes as close as humanly possible.

I agree 100% with the numerous comments here stating that Dr. Kassenoff appears to have no empathy. I am surprised she is in the field she is in. I found her to have terrible bedside manner and was really taken aback by her demeanor when she visited me while I was in the hospital after I gave birth. I really did not deal with her in my prenatal visits so I was not expecting her to have such a gruff and indifferent demeanor. It was very disconcerting as I was expecting a doctor who possessed compassion and warmth like the other doctors I had dealt with at the practice - instead I found her to be extremely abrasive and rude. Given that the other doctors in the practice are all great, I do recommend the practice - I would just advise people to stay away from this doctor if they can.

My visit with Dr. Kassenoff was the most distressing visit I have ever experienced with a practicing doctor. I contacted Dr. Kassenoff, because I had recently found out I was pregnant, and was set to travel out of the country a week later for a burial. When I called Mount Sinai to speak with her, she continuously cut me off and was short in her responses, then quickly hung up the phone when she was done responding. After that call I was taken aback, but thought maybe I misinterpreted her response. I then came into the office at Cadman Plaza location for a second appointment. This appointment was apparently just for lab work, and during the course of the lab, I asked the nurse if I could speak with her, and she stated she would see if she was available. As the nurse goes outside to speak with the doctor, I hear someone screaming “I don’t have time!” My level shock was so overwhelming that I couldn’t fully register what was happening. I then was moved into another room and told to wait. Dr. Kassenoff comes into the office that I’m sitting in, stands by the door and looks at me. She then says yes, and I proceed to ask her about acceptable medication I could take if I get nauseous, and she states are you nauseous now and I said no. She then says well when you get nauseous call. I inform her that I’m traveling out of the country that I will not be able to.

She then in a very attitude driven and rude manner raises her voice and informs me that I wasn’t scheduled for a consult with her, that I was just scheduled for labs. I stare at her with complete shock, during which she looks at me with the what do you want me to do face. She then says she has another patient and leaves.

As a first time expecting mother, I was angered, shocked and extremely in fear for the fact that someone like her could be employeed and working with vulnerable patients at facility like Mount Sinai.

After I left the room, I narrated what happened with the front desk administrator and she was not shocked. She informed me that they get lots of complaints about Dr. Kassenoff, and my question is why has nothing been done about her behavior by Mount Sinai?

I even tried to call and file a formal complaint but was told the Cadman plaza location does not have a specific person I could speak to regarding her behavior.

I do plan to follow up on this experience with Mount Sinai, and in the meantime I urge all women to think twice about working with her, especially women of color as I believe that may have been a factor in why she felt comfortable in treating me with such disregard.

Absolutely terrible bedside manner. Does not call you back with results. Rude, condescending. Gets impatient and irritated if you ask questions. Can't believe Sinai is affiliated.

I had a late term procedure late May. I had to fly out to Colorado at short notice. Doctor Kassonoff is cold and has no empathy. She knew I was carrying a dead full term fetus. She called me the day of and left a voicemail asking me if i wanted to make "arrangements", she meant to being admitted for a new inpatient stay to deliver my dead baby. If course I had no idea what she meant because who would? Arrangements? I called her back and asked her what she meant. She brushed me off. I asked her if she had questions for me. She seemed irritated that I called her back. She never explained that she meant she needed me to give permission for her to admit me for an inpatient stay. It's like she was happy see didn't have to bother with the paperwork. I had to ask some family members who are also practicing physicans to try a guage what she meant. My sister in law who also a physcian told me to ask the physician to admit me for inpatient stay.. my SIL would have done the paperwork without asking. The physician at Colorado was appalled and called his aquaintence doctor Gillian Dean at Mount Sinai and Doctor Dean gladly did the paperwork. Doctor Kassonoff failed to realize that my mental health was off on account of my dead baby. She talked down talk to me. I am a seasoned health insurance professional working in Network Development. I have David Reich's contact information and I am sending a complaint directly to your COO Doctor Kassonoff. I'm glad value based payment is the way if the future. I'm going to laugh when the day comes when people who are physcians who really shouldnt be like Kassonoff are fined for being witches. Go into research Kassonoff.. how many patients have to complain before you realize you have no bed side manner. This isn't for you. IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST CHILD DON'T GO TO HER.

I have seen her only once and I had the same experience with Dr. Rachel Kassenoff. She is cold and distant, hurried through the examination and did not tell me the result. Did not even ask me if I had any questions. She did an initial question and answer 3 minute session to get health history but after the examination, I left like what just had happened? Did she just do the examination and did not comment or say anything to me and if everything okay? I walked out and didn't even bother inquire as I did not want to see her again. She looks down at you as you are taking up her time and not worth her time. What kind of doctor is she! She was supposed to call my Pharmacy and call in a prescription, 2 days later went to pick it up and they tell me that they had nothing for me. No followup... Not going to see her again, don't waist your time!

Dr Kassionff & the office staff (mainly who gets involved in everything and is incompetent GRACE) is incompetent. Every time I call, I got hung up on or put on hold for 30 minutes. Grace is rude and obnoxious. "Doctor" Kassinoff has a TERRIBLE bed side manor. She made me cry. She is a WITCH. She acts as if she is doing you a favor by seeing you. Never follows thru. Never calls with results.
You better off taking your business elsewhere, unless you want to be treated poorly.
Overall they are all rude inefficient impersonal & unprofessional.
