Excellent therapist. Really helped me get unstuck many times. Highly recommend dr. Tautfest!

Dr.Tautfest helped me with anxiety and depression. She never brought up personal problems, and it's difficult to believe comments to the contrary. She was always attentive to my mood changes and tried to help me understand the origins of my problem. She practices psychodynamic therapy, which often takes longer than cognitive-behavioral therapy but is more effective for deeply rooted problems. Perhaps the more thorough, longer psychodynamic approach gave some patients the incorrect impression that the doctor was more focused on empty talk than on results. It can take a while to obtain the insights that psychodynamic therapy seeks.

I saw Dana Tautfest for over a year. I had a historical diagnosis of complex PTSD, and was still most of those symptoms (night terrors, insomnia, flashbacks, depression, panic, dissociation) but she diagnosed me with dysthymic disorder. She did not provide any education or adequate treatment for PTSD. My insurance ended up changing through work, and she did not seem interested in working out a sliding scale with me even though I had built a relationship with her. When I was in crisis and no longer seeing her, I reached out to her for a referral. She thought I had "extreme mood instability" (no sh!# I had PTSD symptoms) and referred me to a psychiatrist for medication. I never felt validated, heard, and at that point realized I was just being misdiagnosed and misdiagnosed and mistreated by yet another therapist. Fortunately I found another therapist who specialized in trauma (watch out! every therapist claims they know how to treat trauma) and after less then a year I no longer met the criteria for PTSD and my symptoms were managed.

Interminable "therapy" drained my savings but didn't help my condition one iota. If you suffer from anxiety or depression, look for another provider.

Attentive to my condition. Invited me to call when problems came up. Maintained focus on my progress. Dr. Tautfest helped me change for the better.

Seemed sincere but was totally ineffective. My experience with Dr. Tautfest took considerable time and expense, but nothing in me changed. Perhaps she can help others, but I did not benefit at all.

A decent psychologist but more interested in getting paid verse paying attention. Seems a connection would be critical instead of distancing yourself with that lift of your chin, tapping of the foot, the flicking of hair, or inspecting your shoes, nails. Please think about me and not you. And really if you tell me to "breathe" one more time I will think I'm in a yoga class. And please don't wear those tight slacks at your age for its just not flattering for you or your position. Going back to Troy where there is some structure and respect of a patient's need.
