Dr. Dickson has been treating my rheumatoid arthritis for over 30 years. Around 1990 I foolishly stopped my preascription because I had been symptom free for over a year. Of course it flared up again and most of the damage I've suffered happened n the interval before he got it under control again. He was upset and disappointed but still patient with me. He found another med that worked and I owe my current symptom free status to him. Yes, the regular receptionist is generally crabby. His wife, who sometimes fills in, is lovely.

Dr. Dickson diagnosed me with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. He wanted to put me on methotrexate, which is a potent drug also used for chemotherapy. He wanted me on this class of drug (biologics, which are all used in chemo) for the rest of my life and told me there were no side effects other than my stomach “might feel a bit funny for a few days”. I said no several times for several reasons, including but not limited to, hair loss (and my hair is already extremely thin), organ damage, the fact that a less potent drug (indomethacin) had been previously prescribed and gave me an ulcer and a lot of daily rectal bleeding, the type of drug he wanted me on states on medical websites not to take if you have stomach issues, this drug requires weekly blood work for kidney and liver function and I have difficulty with yearly blood work because my veins are so damaged from overuse. He is still badgering me about this drug. He is completely against any sort of treatment that doesn’t involve drugs and thinks vitamins and supplements are not beneficial to general health since as he stated to me “something has to have a side effect in order to work” and things like vitamins, glucosamine don’t do anything.

Dr Dickson is a wonderful man and very knowledgeable. My pharmacy told me that Dr Dickson has a very good reputation and he stays on top of all the newest things in his field. He is very kind. His wife helps part time and she is very nice also. His receptionist has tried to bully me more than once and I have complained about her to him. He apologizes for her. Do not let his recepionist bully you, be firm but not rude with your needs. She is not the Doctor. I have often wondered why a man who takes care of seriously ill people puts up with someone who can be so nasty! She needs to retire!

He was really great. I have been there a few times and he cares. Why people complain about waiting too long is crazy. He is worth the wait. He is patient and listens.

Dr. Dickson has a refreshingly personable bedside manner. Easy to talk to, very knowledgeable, and helpful. Truly appreciated the time and care he took with me explaining and making me feel heard. It’s a rare thing!

Very disappointed in the care I received on my last visit. Asked for another x-ray because my arthritis seemed worse (had been 2 years since my last ones). Told no, I needed physio therapy and muscle relaxers?? Saw him for 10 minutes and that will be the last 10 minutes I waste on him.

I found Dr. Dickson and his receptionist very caring and helpful. He is great at explaining what he thinks things could be. He does a thorough exam. Will answer any questions that you have. You do not feel rushed when in his care. As all specialists in the Niagara area they have a lot of people to see. Unfortunately, my symptoms are not typical so still need more test to figure out what is going on.

I was to see him in November of 2018, I was sent for X-rays and did that in November of 2018. In January 2019 I called his office and was told that my file must still be on his desk for review. I called again in March of 2019 and was told this again. In April of 2019 I called and asked for an appointment because I was have flare ups. I was told to come in at 11:45 am on a Tuesday so I arrived and checked in. By 12:50 pm I was still sitting in the waiting room so I asked the receptionist how much longer and was told he doesn’t rush his patients so I waited another 10 minutes and still nothing. I never did see him because I walked out. In short the whole atmosphere was very uncaring in my opinion.
