I was a patient of Dr. Shah’s for about six years. I found him to seem unconcerned about my major depressive disorder, condescending, distrustful and aloof. One of the meds he prescribed for me was Adderall, and at one point there was a national shortage of it. He told me that if I needed to get partial fills (because of the shortage) to do so, and then let his office know so they could write a new script for the remainder of the month. I did that a couple of times as directed. The next time I saw him he chastised me for doing it. He said I was “wasting a lot of his and his office’s time with partial fills.” Basically I never knew what to expect during an appointment with him which really heightened my already severe anxiety. Would the appointment be relatively smooth or would I get lectured/chastised about something unexpected and unfounded? Someone else wrote something in a review about Dr. Shah and his staff that said if you want compassion, assistance from the front office and a pleasant bedside manner, go elsewhere. I totally agree. The one/only thing I will give Dr. Shah credit for is that he is extraordinarily knowledgeable about various psych meds and combos for trying to help with treatment resistant depression. Beyond that, my experience with him was quite negative so just be forewarned if you plan to go see him.

Terrible experience with Dr. Shah. He is a poor communicator and is much too quick to prescribe medications. I wound up addicted to benzodiazepines while under his care. He should not be permitted to practice medicine. He is a pill pusher.

Please see a psychologist if you need talk therapy. Dr. Shah is always willing to work with me to adjust my medications and has never been rude or aloof. He is a little quick but that works for my situation.

I have found Dr Shah and his staff awesome!!! They are always there in emergencies and he does work well with all my physical ailments. I was kinda shocked at some of the reviews, a psychiatrist is for helping with meds and if you need more in depth a counselor is also a great addition. I have a life long illness so Dr Shah handles my meds and reviews other medical issues BUT I see a counselor for learning to deal with life long illness.

I called over two weeks ago to schedule and appointment which no one never called me back. I called again today to try and get assistance with an appointment. The scheduler then went into asking me a serious of questions. I made it clear that my medial doctor advised me to see a psychiatrist. She then started to screen me after going though a traumatizing event in my life. She made me feel even worse. What happened to patient confidentiality. I was seeking help and she made me feel worse. New Patient seeking help.

I totally agree with others assessment of Dr. Shah as aloof. I would also characterize him as lacking in empathy. He showed not the slightest compassion or understanding of my situation. Don't see him if possible.

This doc barely gives you any time to talk and seem very unconcerned and annoyed with even dealing with patients. I felt insulted, dismissed and like he just wanted to pump more and kore meds into me.
