This is the third joint replacement that Dr. Smith has done for me. Each time I have found him to be an excellent surgeon and his staff to be just wonderful. I have had no complications, no pain, absolutely no problems. I would, and have recommended him to many of my friends.

Dr. Smith recommended to me by my primary care doctor. I was attracted further by his interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques. He verified that I need both knees replaced, as my pain had been telling me. He recommended both knees at once. The results have been nothing short of incredible. No walker after first week. Back at work in 26 days. I have ways to go still, but the surgery was obviously flawless.

Dr. Stuart Smith is an outstanding doctor. I lived with severe pain in both hips for many months before having left hip surgery. Dr. Smith took the time at each visit to explain the procedure and answer any questions I had. It is easy to see that he very thoughtful and truly cares about his patients. Immediately after surgery, I was pain free--amazing.

So I happily join many others in high praise for Dr. Stuart Smith. He has it all - compassion, thoughtfulness, honesty, great listening skills and the best of all excellent technical surgical knowledge. I had double knee replacement and it went so well I was released to swim and drive in just over 3 weeks. I continued PT for a full 4 weeks. At 5 weeks my husband and I flew to an out of state family reunion. No setbacks nor complications of any kind. Thank God for Dr. Smith.

I had total right hip replacement the day before Thanksgiving! Went home the next day with a good nurse ( my husband). Within 3 weeks, I was walking without any assistance and enjoyed Christmas with my children / grands! Physical therapy, three days a week, wasn't easy but I think that was my key to a speedy recovery!

To be concise, he is the best, the staff and those involved in supportive care have a high degree
expertise in their skill areas and always know what the next step is in your care. There is, I am sure, other physicians as competent as Dr. Stuart Smith and his team, but there are none better.

On Feb. 19, 2010 I fell & sustained a 4 part humeral fracture - to say the least, quite catastrophic for me. Not easy to accept but he made it easier! I was admitted about 2 or 3 am to Baptist Hosp. Sat.,Feb. 20 - taken by ambulance about 1 1/2 hrs. away. Dr. Stuart Smith came in that a.m. I was in pain & he had a warm & cordial bedside manner & explained my surgical options. (hemiarthroplasty - replacing the broken ball of the humerus & putting a metal rod down the shaft of the humerus forever!)I had surgery on Sun. am, Feb. 21, & left Baptist on Wed. I have had 2 postop visits so far at TOA & have been impressed by both his & Bryn Southard's (his P.A.)care. I look forward to seeing him again May 27 for a 13 1/2 wk. postop visit. I'm grateful for his caring attitude & would select him again voluntarily for surgery if necessary (heaven forbid!) I had no choice but emergency surgery this time! He loves to explain well what's going on - much appreciated.
