I have seen Dr Barankin in absence of his partner a couple of times and found him to be clear and concise.

Danger, Danger, Danger!!! Do NOT see this doctor!!!! I am a 43 year old male with fair skin and freckles who was referred to this Dermatologist for a new black mark on my forehead in Jan 2011..saw him in March…told it was nothing (Charged me for a cosmetic treatment to it)…I returned a month later for another “treatment” and paid more to him. Finally in June he biopsied the black mark…it was a malignant melanoma. It was quickly removed...but to late now. It was deep and has reached the blood supply and has spread. I am now a cancer patient at Princess Margaret waiting for invasive surgery to my forehead, face and neck to remove my lymph nodes on the side of my face. If this incompetent doctor had properly biopsied the black mark back in March when I first presented to him he could have saved my life…now I my die from him neglect!! Do not see Dr. Barankin, do not let your family see him, and do not let your friends see him!!! Learn from my mistake and protect yourself he is more interested in your money then your health!!

Dr Barankin is obviously smart and friendly. He listens to your concerns as long as you respect him; his bedside manner is quite good indeed. He always comes on time and his staff are okay. However, when it comes to the business side of the story, he might not give you the best advice in the name of money. When money is involved (which means that the condition can be treated by different treatments, and the treatments might not be covered by government), you should think twice before making any decision. Like many other dermatologists, Dr Barankin is a doctor, but also a businessman. It is just the sad reality. If possible, you should try to consult more than one dermatologist. To conclude, for medical concerns (that does not involve money), Dr Barankin is a more than decent doctor. But when money is involved, you should become a smart consumer (instead of a patient). Btw, he is not a wheeler-dealer like business; he has good strategies.

When I went to see him, I got the impression that he is one of the more knowledgeable in his field that I ever encountered. Keeps himself updated on all the latest developments in medicine in general and dermatology in particular. It took him a couple basic procedures to diagnose my daughter’s condition (“absolutely nothing to worry about”) and suggest treatment. Needless to say, we were satisfied with his services and I have been recommending Dr Barankin to my friends ever since.

I am Dr. Barankin's patient for some time and I'd have to say I have gotten to know him in various contexts, both medical and cosmetic. There is no doubt that he is an amazingly astute and perceptive dermatologist as he has helped me with several complex skin problems, and I have had some cosmetic work done too with fabulous results. He's very gentle and explains everything, and I never felt that he was pushing me to do anything, just giving me all the options and discussing potential side effects. I've spoken to a few people in the waiting area in the past and all speak glowingly of his demeanor and skills. His new office is simply amazing, and his staff are super nice too. Very very highly recommended.

I travel from London periodically to see Dr. Barankin since he is considered one of the top dermatologists in Canada (at least that's what my family doctor says). I definitely think he is a super doctor and knows everything about the skin. He has helped me many times over and I am thankful to have such an expert taking care of my skin health. God bless. Mary G.

What a joke! This guy is totally a WASTE of time. I come in for one issue, he tries to peddle his cosmetics business on me. Funny, cause in the past I was his cosmetics client at another clinic. Guess he won't be getting my or my friends business anymore.

Dr. Barankin has been my dermatologist for 4 years now and I am so thankful that my family doctor referred me to him. He has helped me with so many skin issues, and he is always patient with me and willing to hear me out. He offers practical suggestions and his advice always seems to be spot on. Affter seeing many doctors over the years, I'd have to say that he is the best of them all as far as his personality and knowledge.

Horrible, horrible, horrible! I had two very related skin problems, and he said: we can only discuss one issue per meeting! which one do you choose, A or B?!! I said, (fine), A. Once I opened my mouth, he interrupted me and said: you have three options for this. Medication A, B, or C. which one do you choose? I realized that he is a jerk, money hungry. He does not want to even listen to my med history. I said, C. He wrote it and said it was nice to meet you! bye ! overall 2 and half minutes. I already had googled my skin issue and found a lot lot more information. In fact there is more information in answers.yahoo.com, where kids post their Questions & Answers!!! unbelievable. he just wants to bill you/your insurance company. Stay away from this person. The office was generally not crowded, but I waited for 30 minutes nevertheless. BTW, I was refereed to Dr. Freiman, his co-worker, but he came to see me.
