I had L4/L5 with a cage fused 4 years ago and have Snpondylilotheisis. Dr. Eastlack told me that I would likely need S1 fused down the road but suggested I not do it at the time. I also told him before surgery that I had an allergy to nickel, he told me not to worry as the titanium screws did not contain nickel (not true).

I have been in constant pain since surgery and on a pain management treatment. I have scheduled three appointments with him over the past six months and they have all been canceled. The first two were rescheduled by his staff and the last one happened after I arrived, had scans taken and was informed he was running 2 plus hours late and they would need to reschedule me to the end of July! Two additional months to wait in pain!

Last month my son was in a car accident and I took him to see an Orthopedic surgeon who looked at my scans as a favor and told me that he could tell that there was a 100% chance I would need a second surgery to fuse S1 to L4/L5 and when I told him that he wanted to remove my hardware, he warned me that I could bleed out and that it was a risky procedure that he deemed “extremely unnecessary.” I told him about my concern with the allergy with nickel and he told me that I should’ve been tested before the procedure.

Across the board, this has been an epic failure! Back pain is the worst pain I have ever experienced and I feel like I have literally lost the last four years of my life. I used to be active and enjoy my life and now I am bed ridden most days. I am trying proactively to find a solution and every time I think I am going to get in to see the doctor, my appointment is canceled! Time for a new doctor and a real solution. I do NOT recommend Dr. Eastlack, do yourself a favor and get a second opinion before you put your life in this man’s hands!
