This man tried to convince me that a c-section was the only option for a single fibroid less than 10cm growing outside my uterus; he told me “if I pulled his arm” (his actual words) he might consider keyhole—this to a patient who is not qualified and yet knows that keyhole is possible for fibroids below 10cm and less than 5, EVEN IF BROAD LIGAMENT OR SUBSEROSAL—and then proceeded to dismiss my concerns and did not engage in further discussion on keyhole; so while he said he likes to make sure the decision is 50/50 he bullied me into accepting c-section as only option. Seems he was more concerned with royal ascot. Plus, he dismissed the morcellator bag as being fiddly and less useful as I would think—despite the bag being a safety precaution for real risk—which tells me he wanted to open me up with one big cut because it would be simple and easy for HIM and not for me, who would then need more hospital day and more brutal recovery with more risk. I then went to two more surgeons for second opinion, did not let them know what I had already been told. The doctor I booked my keyhole with said off the bat it was possible—after taking me through my MRI scan, frame by frame, which Mr Ind did not do before telling me to twist his arm or it’s a wide open bikini line cut. I truly am grateful I listened to my instinct and sought another opinion that matched with all the literature I have read from the major university hospitals regarding surgery for fibroids—that Ind dismissed the morcellator bag and suggested such a drastic operation is a massive massive red flag. I would not have felt safe in his theatre one bit. Of course I believe he must be an excellent surgeon, and his secretaries are really lovely; but my personal experience was beyond concerning.
