John is a rarity, an old school GP who seems to know every disease and illness out there - he often gets out a battered old textbook to check symptoms with me, commonly saying "I've never seen this, but let's just check" - his knowledge is incredible! He's usually running late but that's down to the fact he actually takes the time to listen to his patients, discuss options and ways forward, looks up medications or specialists he thinks might be able to help you, writes referral letters with more than the standard "thanks for seeing XYZ, yours sincerely" - he is the most knowledgeable, compassionate, kind GP I have ever met! Sadly he will be retiring in the next year but in the meantime, he is wonderful and I couldn't recommend him enough!
