Not sure what's going on. The PAni had seen for years said she was leaving. Asked where she was going and said any where but here. I saw my new PA one time and then she left. She's at the new doctor that I'm going to see.

Worst place in the world. Stay away. This doctor does not listen to you. The staff is all confused and has some PA doing the work.

I have been to Dr Draelos twice. He was the first Dr that listened to me about my thyroid and he diagnosed me with hashimoto's. He ran a ton of tests because either also have an underlying insulin resistance issue. He really did listen to me. He was in the room with me for about 30 minutes. I'm so thankful that he is getting to the root of my issues instead of telling me to just lose weight.

Sharon Bolton, his primary PA, is rude and dismissive. I came for my thyroid follow-up, and she said I was just depressed because I was overweight and blaming a non-existent thyroid problem (despite being there for a thyroid follow-up). She actually rolled her eyes when I described my symptoms, and said she'd up my thyroid medicine by the lowest possible increase just to show me it wasn't my thyroid. She wouldn't even look at my food journal and said I probably didn't understand what portion sizes are and I should see a nutritionist (never mind my already 99% clean and 900 calorie/day diet). My new doctor found my actual thyroid numbers (free T3 and free T4) to both be below range and definitely a problem. After being properly medicated (3 times what I was on when I saw Sharon), the weight has melted off, I'm not depressed, and I have no thyroid symptoms.

I have had the same struggles with the staff at Draelos Metabolic, (no returned phone calls, longer waits in waiting room while on-time to my appointment, etc.) however, Dr. Draelos is an awesome physician! I too had issues/struggles with my weight that he was able to identify other underlying issues that were the cause and as a result, I've lost 64lbs to date. I also see his Registered Dietician Jennifer Allen who has also helped line me out on nutrition and accountability. I have been a patient for over 2 years and would not go to any other Endocrinologist...

I have been waiting for a week for a response to not one but two online new patient appt requests. I received an email stating I would be contacted within 1-2 business days to schedule my appt. Well 2 days later I STILL havent heard from anyone. I even called and left a msg about wanting to schedule an Appt. Ive read other reviews and apparently this is NOT where I need to go for Endocrine healthcare needs. I have decided to take my business elsewhere, thanks but no thanks.

I am finding a new doctor. There staff messes up and they penalize the patient for their mess ups.

Waited almost 25 mins to be called back then Dr. Draelos came into the room said hi then immediately left to take a call on his personal cell that lasted almost an hour (50 mins). He then returned and refused to review my labs and said I did not have a problem. The impression I had was that because I was not overweight I did not have a problem. His waiting room, patient room and even the bathrooms had advertising everywhere for weight loss materials. While standing in line to pay my copay (which I should not have had to pay) I noticed that everyone in front of me (4 people) and behind me (2 people) were standing in line to spend 100's of dollars for weight loss "items". I will never go there again!

We used Dr. Draelos officec for 2 years with my husband's diabetes. We NEVER saw Dr. Draelos one time, only his PA, who attempted to prescribe every NEW (untested and since troubled) diabetes drug out there. The PA was often late for appointments, and this was AFTER sitting in waiting room for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes every time we had an appointment. Scheduling is a nightmare, and you will never speak to a live person...you must leave a message and someone will get back to you, and NEVER was it the same day. You have to check out in a long line AFTER you have been made to wait to go back to see PA, wait for PA and THEN, wait to pay and schedule your next visit. As most people, we have jobs and obligations and finally got tired of the total lack of customer service and what seemed like pushing of the latest pharmaceutical company's visit and quit going to this office.

Dr. Matthew T. Draelos' response
We are disappointed that your experience at Draelos Metabolic Center was not positive. Regretfully it is true that Dr. Draelos himself is limited in the period of time he is able to spend with each patient. Recognizing his limitations he has built a team of skilled providers (PA, CNS, RD) to help him spend the time needed to ensure that each person fully understands their condition and treatment. Our team approach to your care allows you the benefit of his oversight of your plan of care and more time with one of his trusted associates.
Dr Draelos believes that responsible medical innovation has the potential to benefit the lives of his patients. He independently monitors research in the medical areas that he treats and advises his team on the use of new FDA approved therapies. Transparency is also an important value. When newer therapies are recommended by our team, patients are fully educated about the therapy including risks and benefits.

The worst customer service ever experienced!I had to reschedule an appointment since they scheduled 2 apptmnts 1 after another.I was only aware of the initial appntmnt & was unable to wait 40 minutes(possibly longer since you are not seen at the exact time of your appointment) for the supposed next appntmnt so I rescheduled for a week later. Unexpected traffic the day of the rescheduled appointment made me run late,I called the clinic as a courtesy to inform them I was on my way but running a few MINUTES late(approx 7 min). The receptionist that was rude & unhelpful I was told I had to reschedule for 2 hours later which wasn't possible since I had work. By that stage of the conversation I was on 2nd & Boulevard(a street away from the clinic) & they still refused to keep my apptmnt despite the fact I had filled in the paperwork the previous week. I then received a $50 cancellation charge in the mail. I suggest looking elsewhere if your looking for real patient care & courtesy!

Dr. Matthew T. Draelos' response
We are disappointed that your experience at Draelos Metabolic Center was not positive. Many of our patients will have time reserved on our schedules for a variety of services (lab, ultrasound, EKG, provider appointment etc). Appointments are scheduled so that diagnostic results are available to your provider during your face to face consultation. We strive to clearly define the timing of these services in writing when possible. Despite our efforts misunderstandings do occur. When your arrival is delayed we make every effort to work you in. The decision to work in a delayed patient depends on many variables and thus the decision may take a few minutes to be determined. It has been identified that the cancellation charge in this case was created in error and has been corrected.
