Dr. Refai was very knowledgeable and compassionate. He was so informative and helpful that I???ve already recommended him to a few coworkers. He really understood me and helped me understand me! I will definitely keep seeing him!

Dr. Refai is great at explaining the environmental aspects that relate to the increase in my anxiety and depression. He's very good at listening and is quite relatable and down to earth. Best Psychiatrist I've ever had.

I've only been seeing him for a few months but so far I'm happy with my treatment. Ive had poor psychiatric care since my teen years. When I told him what meds I'd tried and stopped taking because they made me feel worse, he was able to describe to me exactly what I had been feeling and explained how this was caused by a misdiagnosis, which really inspired confidence. He is very confident which may be off-putting and seem arrogant, but in my experience he has the knowledge to back it up. I already had a great therapist, so Dr. Rafei was able to focus on the psychiatry piece exclusively; this might be what is missing in other folks experiences with him.

If you would have asked me a year ago, I would have given Dr. Refai 4 or 5 stars. Based on my experience, he doesn't like to believe that the medications he prescribes cause harm to his patients. I had what I thought was a side effect from a medication that he prescribed. He said that he didn't think it was from the medication. So, trusting him completely (my fault), I ended up spending over a grand on an MRI scan because of this "symptom" and spent months before that terrified that I had MS. After quitting the offending medication, the side effect slowly went away. The past few appointments with him our doctor-patient relationship deteriorated. He was very condescending and paternalistic. Disappointed because I trusted him and thought he was a good doc.

He discharged me from Baptist Behavioral inpatient when I was actively suicidal. I had been abused by the staff the entire night and morning and he didn't care at all. He just walked out ignoring me that I intended to end my life.

I had been living with what I thought was bipolar disorder for 15 years. I have seen multiple psychiatrists and they continued treatments. He took his time and explained thourougly why I didn't have bipolar disorder. Unbelievable and a blessing.

I saw Dr. Refai for about two years. I was having panic attacks and his first solution was to put me on disability because we needed 'time' for the medicine to work. I couldn't really afford that but went along with it for about 6 months. When I tried to resume work and go back I still wasn't doing well and his solution again was for me to be out of work while we tried more medicine. I couldn't do that, my disability had run out so I've decided to go elsewhere. I couldn't wait around anymore for the medicines to do their job.
