I saw Dr. Stepanko for a few years after moving to Edmonton from Calgary. She is the worst Doctor I have ever been to in my life. She literally called me a "gay" to my face before I even came out. She is the most cruel person I have ever met! I do not know how people like this are able to obtain and maintain a license to practice medicine.

Dr. Stepanko was once my doctor in Edmonton and she was the furthest thing from an advocate for her patients. She is now a locum and whichever clinic hires her should be aware that she will hurt their business.
I recommend not seeing this doctor EVER

Unfortunately, this terribly doctor although retired is now working as a locum in Victoria, BC. She is not just arrogant and rude which I would real;y mind if she was a good doctor. She is a dangerous doctor because her ego prevents her from looking at cases on an individual basis. She has no diagnostic skills and is unwilling to refer to those that could diagnose appropriately. Seeing her is a complete waste of time. She maybe being willing to talk to you with great enthusiasm about the latest novel she has read but she isn't willing to take on your medical concerns with the same interest. If this is your GP's locum go to a walk in clinic while you GP is away.

She is the rudest doctor I have ever visited. I was stunned by her confrontational and dismissive manner. Do yourself a favor and avoid her at all costs!!! She should have retired in 2104 (see below)!!!

My entire family had her as a doctor for a few years. We all switched to a way better doctor. She came off as very self-righteous, in-personal and rude. Should have never stayed with her for as long as we did. I do not miss her one bit!

Dr. Stepanko is doing a locum at Grandview Height Medical Centre. She is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and provides great advice.

While I am somewhat surprised at the range of reviews for Dr Stepanko, I am not surprised at all over the negative ones that suggest this doctor to be haughty and unkind. Almost two years ago, I felt a fullness in my right ear and saw her immediately. She told me I likely had a blocked Eustachian tube and that fifteen times a day I should hold my nose and blow. Two days later, I realized I could hear nothing out of the ear, and I went to a specialist who wouldn't see me without a referral from Dr. Stepanko. I went back to her office. She told me to go home, stop wasting the time of professionals, and do what she told me to do. She told me that if I went to Emergency, I would be told the same thing. She was so wrong. But it was too late to save the ear by hitting it with steroids. I was totally and permanently deaf in my right ear. I feel the doctor and I share equal responsibility in this. She for insisting her diagnosis was the only one to consider, and I for listening to her. As a retired senior, I didn't have the money to sue this woman. I'm happy to hear she is retiring.

I had been seeing Dr. Stepanko for many years now and has been my own physician. With little to compare her to I thought she was fine, until I had requested a referral. She promised me it would get done asap yet after weeks of calling it still had not been done. Her office staff are incredibly rude and should get some serious training on customer service. She gives off the impression that she is tired of her job and I'm extremely glad to hear that she is now retiring. I's extremely long overdue with her poor attitude and lack of care towards her patients.

I have been seeing Dr. Stepanko for over 19 years. I have found her great. She treats me like an old friend and is always happy to see me. She diagnosed me with a rare neurological disorder and gave me just the right medication to treat my symptoms. I am sad to learn she is leaving to Vancouver and will miss her greatly. I am also sad to read some of the comments here as I have never had any problems with her at all.
