By far the best Doctor I have ever had. He is very caring and reassuring and has always taken the extra time to address my concerns with my high risk pregnancy. He has a very cheerful and calming demeanor which along with his extensive knowledge makes me feel lucky to have him on my medical team.

He has no compassion and was super arrogant! He first was super late and I waited for a while in the room for him. Then when I tried to ask him questions that I had prepared, he would not let me speak and said to me “if you interrupt me one more time, we are going to have to end this visit because I have other patients to see!” Wow, how rude and obnoxious!

Dr. Dunn is the most caring, honest and knowledgeable physician that I have ever met. He spends as much time as is needed and even then some with every patient, unlike most who push you through like cattle. He truly loves what he does and I would never chose anyone else for my OB/GYN care.

Dr. Dunn has been my specialist, each of the two of my pregnancies, and he is the most impeccably marvelous. His partner, Chris, is sweet as can be, so it's essentially what finish off an effectively good thing. His disapproving of manner and ace urging has continually comfort me essentially in the midst of pregnancy, birth, and postnatal depression. I recommend him without reservation!!

Dr. Jonathan Dunn is the best OB/GYN in all of San Diego! Dr. Dunn delivered both of my children and provided such caring, thoughtful, informed, attentive care throughout both of my pregnancies. He’s also been my gynecologist for 8 years. I was in for my annual visit last week, and while I am all done having children (I’m a believer in not being outnumbered!) I couldn’t help but long for the days when I was pregnant. I always felt (and continue to feel) so respected, reassured, and informed after each visit with Dr. Dunn. I loved the journey of pregnancy. I loved it more, because Dr. Dunn was such good company on the journey.

With my first pregnancy, I started in the care of another doctor, but every time I went for an appointment, I left feeling that I had seen her for a hot second, that I was rushed through the visit, and that my questions – important and original as they were to me – were much less important to her. I have never felt that way with Dr. Dunn, who has seeming endless capacity to listen and respond to my limitless questions. It seems to be an office culture. Kris, Dr. Dunn’s nurse, is amazing – thorough, warm, authentic, knowledgeable.

During my first pregnancy, I went on bedrest at 28 weeks due to concerns about an incompetent cervix. I ended up going full term, under Dr. Dunn’s expert care. However, when I went into labor, my son’s heart rate tracing was abnormal and there was meconium in my fluid. Dr. Dunn explained the options to me. I could continue to labor, and ultimately need to have a c-section, because I wasn’t dilating as I should be. Or, I could go straight to a c-section and in 45 minutes be holding my baby and know and address what was happening with him. I felt completely empowered to make the decision that was right for me and my baby – which was to move forward with the unplanned C-section. I had the most beautiful birth experience. Dr. Dunn and the entire labor and delivery team at Scripps were incredibly attentive, told me what to expect, literally held my hand. It was clear it was an environment of mutual respect and camaraderie, and this feeling spilled over to the patient(s) and their families.

I would (and have) recommend Dr. Dunn to anyone looking for an OB/GYN. Such an outstanding doctor and member of the Scripps team. Such an outstanding human being who treats you as a person, not just a patient.

I, as many others below, did not initially have Dr. Dunn. He delivered my baby after a long long induction. I can't rave enough about this man. He highly discouraged me to do anything invasive at the risk of the baby even though it extended labor quite a bit. all you need to know is that there seems to be a long line of people waiting to work with him--that says a lot! He'll be caring for all future pregnancies and gynocologic care. I'm grateful myself and my daughter were in his capable hands!

I can say with 100% confidence that Dr. Dunn is a great OB. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a compassionate, respectful, skilled doctor, and his sense of humor is an added bonus. After a slightly traumatic pregnancy (and delivery) with my first child, with a different provider, I was prepared to be extra particular and precautions with my second. After some investigation I chose Dr. Dunn as my OB. Every prenatal appointment with Dr. Dunn was like my first. He always took his time to listen to my concerns, and made every visit feel as thorough as my intake appointment. He always spent a lot of time making sure all of my questions were answered. He was always very knowledgeable, as well as funny and personable. I couldn't have asked for a better labor experience than I had with him. His aftercare was also impeccable. If I have another pregnancy I won't see anyone else.

Dr. Dunn is amazing! He is a professional, knowledgeable and friendly doctor. During every appointment, he took ample time to answer every question that entered my mind, and took them seriously, no matter what they were. His profound knowledge base combined with experience gave me confidence in his decisions. Dr. Dunn stayed in the room for the entire delivery, didn't just come in at the end to "catch the baby" and offered calming support and encouragement when I was exhausted. He had a great relationship with the nursing staff. They obviously had mutual respect for each other and shared the responsibility. He's so easy to talk to and to be around, but most importantly he goes above and beyond for his patients, offering himself and his time during one of the most important events that can happen in life, childbirth!!!

I am not one who often publicly sings a doctor's praises-much less post on a ratings website-but after having Dr. Dunn as my OB throughout my pregnancy and then as the doctor who performed my C-section, I feel like I need to publicly thank him. There were a few small things that came up through the course of my pregnancy, and Dr. Dunn would spend an incredible amount of time with my husband and me answering questions, talking through options, and letting us know what to anticipate for the future. My delivery was a 30-hours-long process that was painful and scary. For about 25 of those hours, another OB was on call and she was terrible, She rushed through checks with me, made me feel unintelligent when I asked questions, and ultimately missed what I consider to be some vital things that led to complications for my baby and me after the delivery. I am SO relived Dr. Dunn came on call, took charge of the situation, and did an excellent job performing the surgery and bringing my son and me through it safely. He's rated #1 in the county for a very good reason! I look forward to continue using him as my OB/GYN in the future, and cannot recommend him enough to those looking for one. Thank you, Dr. Dunn!

Due to my husband and I having careers that force us to relocate each summer and then a cross country move on top of that, I unfortunately have had 5 doctors throughout the course of my 2 pregnancies. two in Manhattan, one in South Hampton NY, One in Los Angeles and Dr. Dunn. I researched quite a while to find him and have to say he is the best OBGYN Ive ever seen.

My experience:

Wait time: virtually none. The times I have waited, I was reasonable enough to realize that other patients ahead of me required more attention. You can gauge how respectful a Dr is to his patients by looking around the waiting room. If there is major overflow then I would assume he double and triple books. Never have I seen his waiting room busy (and he shares an office.) I write this only because of the few negative reviews I saw below mine.

Staff: Always friendly, informative and respectful. They make a point to make small talk and to put you at ease.

Patient room: very clean.

Ease of making appointments: I have called and been able to get in same day every time I requested it if I wasnt feeling well.

Dr. Dunn: friendly, funny, charming, knowledgable and takes time with you. He does not rush you and answers each question with thought and insight. I have had talented doctors with poor bedside manner and for me, I need the whole package when choosing someone to deliver my child.

Alas, I delivered on a day dr. dunn was not on call, but I would like to mention that he works very closely with midwives, namely a wonderful woman named Andrea that made me feel like a queen on my delivery day. Dr. dunn is a great advocate of midwives and that is something to consider.

Aftercare: He visited my family and I in the hospital when he was on call, he called to follow up on some pain issues I was having and continues to be a delight all around for my family. I thought he would be deserving of this public review.
