Dr. Sol worked with my teenage son for about a year. Our experience was not different from what I read in other people's reviews. Dr. Sol is a very hard working, dedicated person. He was always available when we needed him, way past his office hours. Answering e-mails at 9pm was not unusal.
Dr. Sol works to get to the root of the problem, and while being "no nonsense" he is also very kind and understanding.
Our experience was great! Highly recommend.

I have been seeing Dr. Sol since 2019, during that time he helped me through so much. As an African American, there is a stigma behind seeking help to improve mental health. Dr. Sol was able to understand the issues of being Black in a rural area and the generational issues, oppression, racism, and microagressions that may play a factor in one’s mental health. I highly recommend Dr. Sol for anyone, especially people of color in Mt. Pleasant!!!!! He truly cares and I could always depend on him to be honest and straight forward with me. I could be myself unapologetically.

I think the reviews here speak for themselves. I worked with him for over a year, and he always saw me during later hours, when no one else was around. He was always accommodating. Dr. Sol and I got along very well, and I feel like he is the type of guy who would give you the shirt off his back to help you. I've seen responses from emails come in as late as 10:30pm so you know you can rely on him in times of need. He is definitely no nonsense, and while that is what I definitely needed, I feel like that is the only way to do proper therapy. Why would I want someone who is going to tiptoe around my feelings when the reason I'm there is because of my feelings. I've been to a few other therapist who helped me fix my immediate problems, which obviously feels like they helped, and then problems start re-occurring and then you're in need of a therapist again. I was hesitant to go again, however following an absolutely terrible relationship, I felt I had to try again or give up on relationships. I'm glad I tried again, as I'm now so much happier in my life and my relationships with people. I have the courage to stand up for myself and treat myself the way I deserve, as well as communicate what I need before problems start happening, instead of bottling my feeling inside where they end up being a mental health problem and you have to start the all over again. He gives you the tools to succeed instead of giving you what you need. There will probably be "homework". You don't just magically get better by talking, you get better by doing. It will be uncomfortable, it can and will be hard, but you are there to change the bad thought processes and actions in your life, and that takes time and effort, at least if your there for something that takes time. I honestly recommend him to every person I talk about therapy with. He told me once about some of the work he does in the community, and you can tell this guy actually cares. Through my time in therapy I honestly consider him my friend, and I'm actually pretty picky about my friends. He blew me away with how much he actually remembered from previous sessions about me, without needing to go through his notes all the time. He was always in a good mood despite it being after hours. It seemed he enjoyed helping me, as I'm sure he will enjoy helping you. I honestly can't recommend him enough. Whether you're looking to turn yourself around, or maybe you just need to talk some things out, please go to him, he will help.

Dr. Sol helped me wrangle in my anxiety and depression during the thick of the covid-19 shutdowns, and helped me realize there was more to me than just working. He was always very thorough in what was going on and how to deal with my analytical mindset. At the end of it all, he was also just a very pleasant person to talk to.

I have struggled with emetophobia (fear of vomiting) all of my adult life. I've seen several therapists but Dr. Sol was the first person to really set a treatment plan, and work at this with me to come up with a solution. We used exposure therapy and Dr. Sol helped me to realize that I am capable of handling even worst case scenarios. I am so much happier than I've been in a long time and I wish I had met Dr. Sol earlier! He will make you work, but he will also help you to succeed. Highly recommend! Both in person and virtual meetings were great.

I was treated by doctor sol about a year ago, and wanted to say something so people can find him. I've suffered with PTSD for years and never found someone who I could be this honest with. Doc's the most sincere and direct therapist I have known, and helped me recover my life. I live well now thanks to our amazing work. I can't recommend him enough.

As a fellow psychologist, I immensely enjoyed my work with Dr. Sol. After losing my three children in an ugly divorce, I found myself in the worst depression of my life. Dr. Sol guided me in piecing my life back together, and helped me find the right approaches to cope with depression and trauma. I feel like I can live again for the first time in years. I strongly encourage any who need psychological services to seek out this doctor, who is equal parts treatment provider and mentor to those who need new direction.

Dr. Sol helped me greatly during some of the most important and hardest time's in my life, and without him I would be little more then a broken mess today. In our time together he was able to show me how to better understand my interpersonal relationships, and analyze them to see if my friend cared about me the same way I cared about them. His office is minimalist and non-threatening, allowing for a near-judgement free zone to discuss what his patients need to work on. He is also willing to listen to emails from his patients if need be. The only issues I ever ran into tended to be that, occasionally, I would have to wait 5 minutes or so for him to come out and lead me to his office, but even still I believe that is mainly due to an abundance of work. Otherwise, Dr. Sol is a wonderful psychologist, and I would recommend him to anyone who feels as if they need one.

Dr. Sol completed his doctoral training at Central Michigan University where he focused on deviant sexual behavior, trauma, and forensic populations. Since completing his residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in New Mexico, he has been interested in combat-related trauma, and how it impacts both soldiers, and their families. He currently provides a variety of psychological treatments and assessment services across a breadth of clinical concerns, while specializing in the areas of post-traumatic stress, anxiety disorders, and human sexuality. Towards this end, he encourages clients to seek not only alleviation from actively pathological symptoms, but also to work towards achieving long-term individual goals and interpersonal resolution. He summarizes his professional approach as follows: "As a clinical psychologist, I believe that understanding human behavior and its complex motivations is the key to mental health. The ultimate goal of clinical work is not only the alleviation of psychopathology, but the realization of long-term aspirations, value-consistency, and interpersonal resolution.
