I need to have my ovaries removed. There has been an hemorrhagic cyst while concerning characteristics on my left ovary through two scans (Feb. 2021 & May 2021). I attempted to seek out a local gyno-oncologist (Lancaster, PA) because the frequent commutes to Philly (Fox Chase Cancer Center) have been a hardship. I had an appointment scheduled with Dr. Jacqueline Evans for July 6th. I then received a phone call from Dr. Evans, personally, and she told me that she did not think that she was the "right oncologist" for me because she does not do "menopause care". It was bizarre to me that an oncologist, who knows I was diagnosed with a Uterine Sarcoma in November 2019, would decline to remove my ovaries because of the onset of menopause that will follow. I told her, "Acupuncture can ease my menopause. My concern is my cancer." She said that she had seen in my records that there was a "complication" with my Myomectomy performed at LGH Penn Medicine (whom Dr. Evans is also affiliated with). She added, "but Dr. Medlin" (who wasn't even the doctor who performed my Myomectomy, but is an LGH Oncologist) "did everything appropriately." I told her that I had never mentioned my myomectomy complications, nor anything about Dr. Medlin's care. Neither topic had a thing to do with the fact that I need my ovaries out and the cyst biopsied. She repeated that she just didn't feel she was the "right oncologist" for me. I began to cry. She said, "I'm sorry I can't help you", and disconnected the call.
