Just awful. Licence should be revoked due to the number of complaints that I personally am aware of.
Prescribes in a dangerous manner and does not ensure appropriate follow up when things do not go as he’d planned. Landed me in a psychiatric hospital for the first time in my life.

Peter is well know in the psych world for his extreme over prescribing, and unkind, unprofessional manner.

I’m a specialist pharma sales rep and have worked in this area for close to 15 years now. Myself and anyone else working in the ADHD field are all too aware of Peter’s often extreme over prescribing . Anyone seeking a legitimate diagnosis and appropriate treatment should give Peter a very wide berth. AHPRA complaints have been filed.

This doctor told me if I thought I was so bad, I should book myself into a nursing home. When I said I needed to get out more, he told me to join a commune. Over 7 years I have been given 20 different medications, I am on a cocktail, that is so complicated I can’t be taken off it without being hospitalised. Today I was ranted at because I dared to get an other medication from my family doctor, who is amazing and I have seen for 20 years. Charged me an hour, of him ranting and threatening me

Induced psychosis in our eldest daughter through overprescribing last year. We found multiple bottles of “dextroamphetamine” stockpiled and unopened in her room and she also claims she has been taking many of them in a single day “AS PRESCRIBED”!!!!! there has been much turmoil on our family and friend relationships as a result of the episodes and it’s been a horrible recovery with the mental state overdosing on this medication can do to young girls.

Over medicates. It sent two of my family members to psych wards because of his over dosing. Does not even diagnosis properly. Do not see this doctor.

He doesn’t identify he’s actually a psychiatrist because he’s too busy sticking the boot into the Labor Party and giving misleading information like “only psychs can refer for a 291” and “most GPs can’t prescribe S8s”, or recommending other doctors or nurse practitioners but not disclosing why he recommends those people in particular — friends? Financial incentives? There are vulnerable people in these groups but he’s only interested in stirring trouble. If what he’s doing is 100% fine he’d be posting under his real name; he doesn’t because of the professional blow-back it would cause. If it was fine he wouldn't have blocked me when I challenged his behaviour. It’s pretty pathetic from someone who hasn’t had open books for a long time. Here’s an idea, Doc — if you have so much time to post on Facebook, how about you extend your working hours and actually see more patients instead? On second thoughts, seeing as this is how you behave it’s better people don’t see you. Let’s see how the Health Complaints Commissioner views your behaviour. NOTE: Dr Heffernan responded to my review by claiming it was “hate speech” because he drew attention to the Federal Labor Government reducing subsidised psychology sessions. No refutation of anything I said, just a Trumpian wItChHuNt response. Never mind that it was the Labor Party who brought in the NDIS, while it was the Coalition who brought in the illegal Robotdebt scheme which drove many people to suicide. He’s curiously silent about that because facts are irrelevant when you’re only interested in spewing garbage. You only need to read the other reviews here to see his license should be revoked.

This ‘doctor’ is truly horrifying. He put me on the highest dose of his fav med immediately after my first appointment and wouldn’t listen to my ongoing concerns regarding the serious side effects I was having. I still have long lasting and serious physical side effects to this day (nearly 3 years after my last appointment with him). This man is socially inept, and his only use as a medical ‘progressional’ is in dishing out stimulants to every patient. I also know of a few of his patients who only see this bloke to get high, hoarding up all their pills for party nights. Stay far, far away from him. I am in the process of submitting a formal AHPRA complaint and would encourage others to do so too.
