During my hip replacement surgery, the wrong sized pin was used thereby splitting my femur. Don't know to this day, years later, if it was a surgical error or the anaesthetists doing, but I have permanent nerve damage in my legs. Haven't been able to work full time in 5 years and this has wiped out all my savings. Who knew hip replacement surgery would take me from middle class successful working woman to being on assistance. Have heard many times that the surgeons used to do two surgeries per day. Then all the media reports about people being so displeased with waiting lists and waiting times. The surgeons therefore now have to do five surgeries per day, which makes them very rushed. I don't think anyone can do his or her job properly when rushed like that. The error rate has apparently gone up by 600%. My advice is to wait longer, get the surgeon you want. Heddon has the longest waiting time for a reason. I wish I had waited for him.

He is an excellent surgeon. Very knowledgeable, small incisions, and a sense of humour to make you feel better.
