I'm a transgender man in my late 20s; have been with Dr Basker for 3 years. Before that I was with another doctor for a year and I moved because I felt like I was not moving forward. I was constantly struggling with my identity and family conflict, but the doctor really helped me with those things. He and the staff are competent and compassionate. I was amazed when he told me I could call any time. I try to avoid off-hours, but few months ago I did call on a Sunday and one of his support team called within an hour. Thank you doctor. I know it is a slow process, but I feel like I'm making real progress.

I have been seeing Dr Basker for many many years. He has helped me in so many ways. He is always there to talk to when I need him most. I suffer from anxiety and depression and with the right medication, I can now talk to people without crying. He is very caring and compassionate. He always has the best advice and I follow it completely. Dr Heidi is also very helpful. She always knows what to say and ask me. I rate Dr Basker a solid 5 out of 5.

If you are a transgender patient then this is not the doctor for you. He told me that because my voice sounded like a girls that he would continue to refer to me as a woman, and then he laughed about it. To his credit, he said that I could talk to his receptionist about changing my pronouns in their files, but he did not seem open to respecting my identity himself. He is also usually late for both in person and over the phone appointments. I do not want to discredit positive reviews left by others, but my personal experience has not been a good one. His staff members are friendly though, so there's that.

Earlier this year, my family doctor referred me to Dr. Basker to get assessed for Autism. I discovered that I was autistic a few years ago at 28 and wanted an official diagnosis to replace my old diagnosis of "Social Anxiety Disorder".

At first, it was a phone interview with a staff member a few months after the referral. They asked me questions and I told them some stories about me that made me think I was autistic. I also told them about some tests I had taken. The call ended with them saying that a lot of things I said correlated to Autism.

A few months later, we set up another appointment. This one was in person. I finally got to meet the man himself. He at first asked what kind of medications I wanted and I said "I don't want to take medications!" I went that route in highschool to help my social anxiety. They either didn't help or made things worse. Figuring out the right medications is a long, stressful process and I don't want to go through that again.

I said "The main reason I'm here is to try to get an Autism Diagnosis." I have heard a lot of stories of autistic people not getting diagnosed because there are still a lot of misconceptions about Autism that even professionals think are true (They don't smile. They don't understand jokes, etc.), so I was expecting a fight for this diagnosis, but when I said that a diagnosis was what I was looking for, he said "Oh, I have no doubt in my mind that you're autistic."

And there it was. It took 31 years, but I finally had it, thanks to Dr. Basker. It felt great!

My dad was with me at the appointment and he had many questions. He said how I had been diagnosed with Social Anxiety as a kid and Dr. Basker said that a lot of Autistic people have Social Anxiety. That. explained. A LOT!

Now, Dr. Basker didn't really do much other than tell me what I already knew, but... well, that was what I wanted. In the end, he was kind, friendly, and professional; his staff are good too. I have no complaints.

Dr. Basker is an outstanding psychiatrist. He is extremely kind and exhibits a vast working knowledge of psychiatric, emotional, and mental disorders. I always felt at ease with him and I have really appreciated and benefited from being under such excellent care. Dr Basker is truly concerned about improving his patients' well-being. At the same time, he is very professional and knowledgeable and I felt like I was in extremely capable hands. He truly is the best doctor!! He had helped me overcome so much, and I feel like my life and mental peace are both in such a better place since I started seeing him.
If Dr. Basker asks you to take a medication just take it , he is not one of those that would just give you meds that you don’t need and I am telling you this out of my experience with him , he worked with me to slowly wean me off my medication. When I needed medications he took the time to explain why I needed a certain dosage at a certain time and how the medication works .
When I was concerned about weight gain he told me that he will switch me to a different medication when the time was right and he really did .
I have mania and the first psychiatrist I saw just told me that I need to be on medications for the rest of life but dr basker took the time to figure out that this was a drug induced mania and explained my triggers .
Not only that , when I became pregnant he followed up with me throughout my pregnancy ( although I was fine and had stopped taking the medications 6 month prior )and through the fourth trimester (postpartum) to make sure I’m okay .
He has a great sense of humor he would joke and he’s very easy to talk to.
I also want to mention that his assistants are also amazing .
Dr Heidi has such a calm tone and voice of talking and her laugh just always makes me smile . She is also very kind and reassuring and whenever I talk to her she makes sure that she notes the tiniest details to Dr basker so when I talk to him he already knows every tiny detail.
Durga is also extremely pleasant to work with !
I can’t thank you enough !
Thank you so much for everything you have done for me. I greatly appreciate it. I really think you are a wonderful doctor and I tell everybody about you. I really feel that you are the best doctor I’ve ever been to and that you really listen to me. Again thanks so much.
