Dr Van Wyk is knowledgeable and analyses very thoroughly his patients. He has an impressive capability of looking through the cloud of one’s mind. I saw Dr van Wyk for 8 months as a 14 year old and would cling to my mother each session as I just did not feel comfortable with him. I should have trusted my instincts. After years of searching for another psychiatrist and being unsuccessful we eventually went back to him as a last resort. I saw him from ages 16-22 when I eventually pulled the plug because, after 6 years, he said I didn't have a mental illness. "No hospitalisation, ECT, or medication will help" he said, and when asked why I was on medication he said "I didn't want you to think we weren't doing anything." This man should not be practicing.

Dr Van Wyk spent the whole appointment I had with him talking to me like I was stupid, asking weird questions, and then took it upon himself to write me a prescription for a higher dose of my medication even though I am already on a pretty high dosage. The only thing I got out of it was a referral to see a different psychologist. I will not be seeing him again.

Dr. Van Wyk is an exceptional psychiatrist. He is a very kind person and patiently guided me through one of the most difficult periods in my life. Dr. van Wyk is one of the best listeners, giving me the most helpful advice to combat problems. His diagnosis was spot on and his knowledge of medication is up to date. He is a highly conscientious doctor and genuinely cares about his patients.
Dr. Van Wyk engages with his patients in an authentic manner, always encouraging them towards the healing process.

I can't speak highly enough of Dr Van Wyk. He is extremely intelligent and very kind. He is one of the best listeners I've come across in this field and he treats clients as equals. I recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Van Wyk is a useless Psychiatrist. I was a patient of his for 18 months. He prescribed me endless amounts of unnecessary medication, which led to side effects and more issues that I didn't need added on top of what I was already experiencing. He was extremely dismissive and would rather talk about Religion and Bible Verses than guiding me through my tough time like he should've. I couldn't stand his constant dismissal of my thoughts and his arrogant opinions and attitude. He was more damaging than helpful for me within my recovery to normality.

Worst psychiatrist ive ever seen. Put me on the most toxic, addictive antidepressant whilst being VERY aware of the side effects of said medication. Offered no help in the many months i saw him, only ever saying he would give me more advice "next time". A scam artist of a "doctor". Should not be legally allowed to treat patients with such a rude and hostile attitude.
