Dr. Pham performed two surgeries on my daughter. The first was a 9 1/2 hour surgery to remove her large intestine and form an ileostomy in December of 2013. He performed the entire surgery through her umbilicus and the stoma he made. The second surgery he performed in January of 2014, 7 weeks later, was 3 1/2 hours. This surgery was for the take down of the stoma and reconnect my daughter with the j-pouch he had made in the previous surgery. The second surgery he performed entirely through the stoma. Many surgeons would have made a large incision which would have greatly cut back on the amount of time he spent but Dr. Pham took the extra time to make my daughter's recovery much easier than it could have been. Dr. Pham is an incredibly gifted surgeon and our family highly recommends him.

When our daughter was two, she had a mass develop in her neck. We took her to 5 doctors who could not diagnose it before finding the surgeons of Banner Children Pediatric Specialties, who operate at Cardon Children's Medical Center. Dr. Pham took one look at her neck and the ultrasound and said, "I know what this is. It's a branchial fistula." It turned out to be the rarest form of the problem (1st branchial); he brought in other specialists to assist him for a 3-surgeon surgery that took 4 hours. I later read in a medical journal that it usually takes parents more than 3 years to get the proper diagnosis for a branchial fistula. So we were grateful to find Dr. Pham. He's a smart man, yet humble. He's very easy to talk to and is so kind and gentle with children. He even makes animal balloons! He really cares about his patients and their families. He called me at home twice to check on us. I have great admiration for Dr. Pham and recommend him to any parent whose child needs surgery.
