I saw Cassie because my regular doctor was on call. I’m 34weeks pregnant with a breeched baby. I asked Cassie for a visual ultrasound so I could see if my baby was still breeched. She told me no and that she could feel with her hands and let me know if my baby was still breeched or not. She felt around and assured me that my baby was not breeched anymore and sent me on my way. I trusted my instinct and went back to a different doctor 2 days later who would listen to my requests and give me a visual ultrasound. This ultrasound confirmed that my baby was actually still breeched and Cassie was wrong. When I emailed her to tell her about my findings and how she didn’t listen to my needs as a patient her response to me was insane.
“Thank you for this feedback. I sincerely apologize and appreciate you reaching out. You were absolutely right to listen to your body and follow up with Dr. Haeri. I will take this feedback into account in my care, breech babies can be tricky and feel vertex. You were scheduled in a chaotic call day and this is something we will work on in the future. Please reach out to Dr. Simons or I if you want to discuss this further.”

Her chaotic day should have made no difference to how I was cared for. I will never see her again and I hope other woman thing twice before seeing someone who doesn’t know how to handle chaos.

Cassie delivered my fourth baby at Bozeman Deaconess. I have pretty straightforward pregnancies (albeit very sick-feeling but not complicated) and fairly quick deliveries so I felt very comfortable having a midwife. I felt like Cassie listened to me, showed compassion and understanding when I felt completely miserable, and was always 100% supportive and knowledgeable. I wanted to be induced and was grateful that Cassie was open to that. During our monthly appointments, Cassie was fun, talkative, engaging and very personable yet professional. During my labor and delivery, she was there almost the entire time and I was almost surprised at how calm and focused she became -- she was the perfect mix of professional, skilled, and still very warm and supportive. I would absolutely see Cassie again but (thankfully) my baby-making days are over!

I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks gestation. I was treated like a statistic and not a person. I couldn't believe after speaking to Cassie, her nurse, and the other midwife at her practice, Brooke, not one of them offered their condolences for my loss, nor did any of them instruct me on what to expect, what's normal, abnormal, etc. I was spoken to like a true PATIENT--in medical jargon, completely cold and heartless. When I do become pregnant again there is no way I will be returning to this practice! It's very clear they do not see patients as people.
