Thanks to Dr. Elias and Dr. Schlegel, I now have a beautiful daughter who will soon turn a year old. Ours was a very complicated case. My husband and I are both cancer survivors (diagnosed with lymphoma as young adults). We spent many years trying to do IVF with sperm frozen at the start of his treatment to no avail. One of the nation’s most well known reproductive endocrinologists told us our only option was donor sperm and donor egg. I did research and came across MicroTESE and decided to contact Dr. Schegel’s office for yet another opinion. He thought there was a chance we might get new sperm through the procedure so we decided to give it a try. Dr. Elias helped guide my side of the equation. By then I was 40 and doubtful I had any good eggs left. But he also encouraged me to try and crafted an individualized protocol for my particular needs and health history. Low and behold, it all worked on the first try. I will never be able to fully express by gratitude for both of these doctors. Their compassion and expertise make them world class doctors. Thank you for believing in us. Our daughter would not be here without you.

I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Elias. He is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and kind. His nursing team is just as good. Always answering my many questions, very promptly. I will absolutely be recommending him to others and will likely come back when I try for baby #2.

Dr. Elias is an amazing doctor. He has both a high IQ and EQ, and does an excellent job explaining everything that is happening, not only to ensure your understanding, but to ease your concerns and anxiety as well. Whether it was the procedure he was about to perform, the plan and next steps for my treatment, what we were seeing with the ultrasound, or what was going on with my body and cycle, Dr. Elias helped me understand my own body better, which I found comforting. He seems to be right on top of new innovations in reproductive health, which adds to his trustworthiness. From the start, I knew I was in the best hands possible, and that if anyone was going to be able to help me, it was going to be Dr. Elias.

I found Dr. Elias to be incredibly supportive and he was always happy to answer questions and alleviate any concerns I had. If I ever had a question or concern for him while at home, I would email his nursing team, and if they could answer, they would respond very quickly. If it was more of a question just for him though, he would always call me directly to discuss, which I appreciated. I always felt that he would ensure I knew what my options were and any risks involved, and what he recommended, but allowed me to make the final decision (which for me was always to follow his recommendations). Anything shared with a nurse was always shared back with Dr. Elias, ensuring he was aware of any concerns I had, and that he was on top of everything going on with me. I felt he always took action to ease my anxiety, and ensure I understood and was comfortable with any course of action we were taking. I never felt like “just another patient” with Dr. Elias and his team, but rather “the only patient” as they always gave me the time and attention I needed and always remembered anything I had shared with them.

Dr. Elias is very compassionate and caring. He and his team are welcoming, friendly and trustworthy, making you feel comfortable at every visit. During the entire process, I felt like I had a whole team of people behind me, rooting me on, and working their hardest to make my dreams of becoming a mom come true. I am almost 12 weeks pregnant with my first, and am so incredibly grateful for Dr. Elias and all his support.

Two main things stood out to me during my time being treated by Dr Elias. First, I always felt rushed and not listened to. I was literally yelling my questions as he was perpetually running out the door. His bedside manner was forced at best, and I always felt as though he was trying to get me to commit to more medical intervention at every turn (i.e. multiple cycles and more $$$). Add this to the wait times, and it truly felt like a cattle call at every visit. Second, I repeatedly asked both Dr Elias and the staff whether my insurance would cover ultrasounds and office visits (one of which was incorrectly scheduled by the doctor because there had been a miscommunication- not my fault)- and they assured me it would be covered. It was not. I'm now left with thousands of dollars of bills in addition to the hefty cycle fees. When speaking to the billing office, they flat out said the office denied ever having made these claims, so now I have to pay not only for poor care but to a dishonest Doctor.

I wouldn't wish this on anyone, hence this review- but especially not on women who are in the vulnerable position of TTC. My advice would be to look elsewhere.

After 4 early losses, Dr. Elias was recommended to me by a nurse at a top fertility clinic in NYC. I am based in CT and was considering going into NY for treatment but she highly recommended Dr. Elias. I am pregnant 4 months after my first appointment with him. Those 4 months were intense with IVF, a fresh transfer, chemical pregnancy, surgery and frozen transfer. Throughout it all, I was so grateful for Dr. Elias. He listens, patiently answers all of my questions, is data driven and was able to get to the bottom of what was causing my losses quickly. He has high EQ (and IQ!). His team is also wonderful and very responsive (thank you Jane!). He doesn't waste your time and is always thinking about the next path forward when you face a set back. I will go back to him when we are ready to have our third child. If you are struggling to get pregnant or have experienced losses – call Dr. Elias’s office.

After 1.8 years with another clinic and no success I switched to Dr. Elias and was pregnant after my first cycle with him. He listens, he understands, he gets to know you and answers your questions before you get to ask them because he knows what we are all thinking. For a male doctor to be aware and knowledgeable of our thoughts and feelings through this process says a lot of the kind of care you will be getting from him. I honestly cannot believe I’m pregnant after my struggle with cancer and the most aggressive chemo. His team is just amazing. Because of my experience with my previous clinic I was emailing them and calling for every little thing but they are on top of everything and you will always get a fast response. I will be coming back again for our second baby as soon as I can.

Dr. Elias is the best. He is extremely professional and very calm. This process is up and down but I always found Dr. Elias to be upfront and very scientific/analytical in his approach. He is very realistic and uses the science and what is in front of him to make the best decisions for you. He never got excited and always kept me calm. I also like that he is very human and not cold or sterile. Doctors are not always able to show compassion. I was lucky enough to get pregnant twice by him. I trust him completely and would definitely go back to him if Im considering having more children. He is truly a wonderful doctor.

It’s been a journey – but I am so glad we had Dr. Elias on our side. Before meeting him in 2015, when I was 42, I had been to 3 other fertility doctors. My husband and I had no other complications other than the age of my eggs/oocytes. I simply never responded to the stimulant drugs and never had more than the one egg mature, which we naturally produce anyway. All doctors jumped to have me use a donor egg, but I was just not ready.
I did monitoring appointments in the Mt. Kisco office and procedures at Cornell in the city. (Both facilities adhered to Covid guidelines – I sincerely appreciated the precautions taken.)
Dr. Elias, with his wonderful bedside manner, presented the facts and options (which included egg donation being the most successful) – but did not pressure us at all. I tried IUI/IVF with my own eggs for a few years to no avail. Fertility fatigue set in and I stopped for almost two years.
In the meantime, I had several friends in their 40s conceive beautiful children through egg donation. I finally decided that I was ready and my husband was also on board to try and have the family we set out to have so many years ago. It was like going back home when I called Dr. Elias’s office (after the 2 yr. break). I came to know the wonderful team of staff and nurses over the years. I did monitoring appointments in the Mt. Kisco office and procedures at Cornell in the city. Jessica at the front desk was always helpful and took time to explain next steps.

Dr. Elias got us started on the process – I never felt like a number. Weill Cornell has an elaborate and very private donor egg program in which they match you with a donor to your desired qualities. Paula was the nurse assigned to my case and called in a timely manner with results. Manar, the patient coordinator was also extremely responsive to emails.
It was a nerve wracking waiting game but well worth the wait. I am now almost 12 weeks pregnant at the age of 48 and feel I would not be here without the knowledgeable, patient guidance of Dr. Elias. I have moved on to a wonderful OB now (Dr. Elias’s recommendation) – but will admit to having some separation anxiety from Dr. Elias.
He told us to send him a picture of the baby in April – and I know he means it!!
If you are on this journey stop searching – call Dr. Elias’s office.
