She is all about her money and not patient care. For example, she makes more money if I have to go in for an appointment so instead of just refilling my asthma medication prescription (that I've been on for years) she said I have to come in and see her. She knows I work in a healthcare career that is so busy that it is nearly impossible for me to book really far in advance but her schedule is all over the place with her only available certain days and gone for months at a time. She never listens to what I want, she keeps trying to push a hormonal IUD on me when I've told her birth control gives me suicidal thoughts every time I've been on it and I don't even want birth control. She says it'll be fine and to just get it. The last time I told her about mental health concerns she diagnosed me as bipolar and put me on very harsh medications, I asked her about therapy and she said she doesn't believe therapy works at all for anyone. I sought out my own psychologist who said I didn't need those medications because after just one session she was able to determine there is no way I am bipolar. She said I cycle through being incredibly anxious due to past trauma then fall into depression after my body burns out from being on high alert and I go through cycles. I did 2 years of therapy and feel a lot better but still have some concerns. Unfortunately my psychologist moved and I haven't been able to find a new one within budget. I've had coworkers ask me if I have ADHD as I can drink coffee and go straight to sleep after, it has no effect on me. I also have a hard time focusing if there is background noise while trying to take vitals on my patients or listening to them which I've been told seems like auditory processing disorder and coincides with ADHD. I looked into ADHD, went back through my report cards from school in the 90s and 2000s all of which talk about my inability to focus. I've been told girls/women are often undiagnosed or misdiagnosed when they have ADHD. I need to find a new doctor as everyone is insisting I have ADHD and the signs/symptoms do seem to match up. I feel like if I say this to her though that she won't listen to me. When I was hospitalized due to a collapsed lung and had an adverse reaction to morphine I told her about it and she laughed and said that's just what happens on morphine, no it isn't, that is a med I can administer as a healthcare provider myself I know what an adverse reaction is. She also kept saying my pelvic pain was something I need to see a physio for, eventually found out it was because of a bladder infection. I found out when it was to the point that it had moved into my kidneys. Once it was treated my pelvic pain was better, I do get reoccurring infections though and again makes me come in every time even though she ends up just writing a prescription. Also refuses to acknowledge or document a vaccine injury. I had a DTAP booster in 2015, ceased menstruation and only menstruate a few times a year now. I was 28 when this happened and suddenly I have "polycystic ovarian syndrome" when prior to this I had no fertility or menstruation issues. We know that vaccine administration can affect a woman's cycles but they should return to normal, mine never did. She laughed at me when I told her this started within 2 months of my booster. I've called a few places but every one I call and ask and explain the situation tell me you can't just get a new family doctor because you don't like yours so I firmly believe she has written something on my file to make them treat me like this.

Awful awful doctor. Instantly judgy, saying things like "how does your husband handle your complaining', or 'you must have a lot of money for getting these expensive blood tests' that mom got because she was desperate for help, then deciding after 5 minutes of talking (her talking) that you must have mental health issues, then giving you an ultimatum to take depression meds, or not come back. Mom didn't go back. But this doc clearly put her 5 minutes of self-talk diagnosis on mom's chart because since then every other doc asks about 'her depression' - which she has never had. Stay away from this woman if you value your future experience with any other doctor. She is as horrible as they get. She was the last doctor my mom went to for help other than when she ends up in ER for her real, non depression, issues that she went to this excuse of a doctor for help. Stay away!!!! Seriously.

Best Doctor Ever! She is friendly and has a great quiet sense of humor that gets you through many proceedures... she is very thorough and knowledgable. Its more like stopping by to see a friend rather than going to a doctors appointment.

I really like Dr. Powell. I have been going to her for a while now and have never run into an issue. She does talk a little fast but thats not a huge deal to me. Shes easy to talk too and I trust her very much. Sadly, her receptionists feel constantly flustered and they dont know what they are doing. On several occasions ive tried to book an appointment and told to call back again on X date since they dont have her schedule yet. I call back on that date or a day or two later and they still cant book me in. The one day a receptionist weighed my daughter and wrote down the weight incorrectly and the since i was seeing the Dr on call, the dr made me go in undress my screaming baby to weigh her again. Her Nurse Marlene is wonderful, never had any issues with her. So to sum up, love dr powell and her nurse but her receptionists need the boot.
