Albany Clinic’s Dr. Yoong has been my designated family doctor for about nine years. He’s personable and in person has time for you.
I had some recurring abdominal pain, pointed to the spot and asked him about it. “There’s nothing there,” he said. It actually was diagnosed at the walk-in, when it became acute.
His waiting list is currently a month for a phone appointment. Pre-COVID, I’ve waited two months to see him, unless I was lucky enough to get him at the walk-in clinic.
Not a recommended choice, if you don’t want random walk-in clinic doctoring.

Dr. Kevin Yoong is by far the worse doctor I know and I would like to warn you about him. I almost died because of him being such a negligent doctor. I went to a walk in clinic because I was having anxiety, he prescribed me some anxiety medication and I had a severe reaction to it. I went back a couple of times to the clinic nd he kept saying I was only anxious and that there was nothing he could do to help. I felt like I was dying, I could hardly breath, my chest was burning, I was disoriented, I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. Since he kept telling me it was just my anxiety acting up I went to see my therapist thinking there was something else going on with me, well that didn’t help. So I came back to the walk-in clinic once again and there he was, I begged him to check what could be wrong with me because he didn’t want to do anything, well he said he was going to give me an lab order to check if I had a blood clot and that was the only thing he could think of. Well, since this was taking forever I had to go back to my home country to get checked because I could not take it anymore. Sure enough I had a blood clot which was extremely dangerous and I could have died. I spent several months recovering from this, it was by far one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. I wish he could have paid more attention to what was going on, he didn’t even have the intention to see what was wrong with me, he kept saying it was my anxiety. This doctor should not be practicing, I’ve read a couple of reviews where he put other people’s lives in danger. I’d like to report him but I’m not sure how I could do that. Just be careful with him and if possible avoid him. He could care less about people.

Caring knowledgeable Doctor who will not hesitate to refer to a specialist . Sometimes it could take several weeks or more to see him...Only drawback. As one fellow patient put it well when saying that ‘ I hope he does not go anywhere until I go’.

This guy (Kevin Yoong) is simply dangerous for those who were unlucky to choose him as a physician. His professional knowledge is much, much below any lowest level one can imagine. I came to him, being very healthy (not an issue for concern), when my doctor announced he plans to retire soon. After 3 years with Yoong, I have a long list of serious problems, including high blood pressure. All my life, until 55, I had 120/70. This guy missed a trend (a doctor in walk-in clinic told me in my file I have recordings 130/80 and 140/90), and finally I crossed 180/120!! He did not tell that my proximal thoracic aorta is enlarged to 4.2 cm, while it should be 2.4 cm or so (again the other doctor told me about it!!!). He did not tell (but it's in my file) that my prostate is enlarged though same day I came to him to ask for a referral for an urologist, which I did not receive; Yoong told he does not see a reason!! In front of him, there was information that I must see an urologist!! Look what he (or someone on his behalf) wrote about himself: he “is caring, knowledgeable, and compassionate… very thorough. He listens and takes the time.” (Dec. 4, 2015), “a knowledgeable and caring Physician. He listens to me intently.” (Apr. 14, 2014), “is patient, kind, proactive and knowledgeable… he always takes whatever time I need to talk… he is fantastic” (March 10, 2014). Now, please compare his own opinion about himself with what his real patients wrote below. I could go on, and on, and on. My point is, if you don't want to be chronically ill or even die earlier than you expect, avoid this guy.

Currently writing a report for the College Of Physicians and the the Toronto Star. Very ill for nine months. And in pain. Found errors is reports. Failure to read or take action with important results.
Had me listed as having a hysterectomy. Wrong. Original report lost twice and was recopied.
I may now have to have my ovary removed. Because I have been so ill he tells me to go to the hospital. Tried three times to be admitted. The hospital tells me to go the Dr. Extreme pain for nine months. To sick to get to the Albany Clinic for a Prolia needle. My druggist did not know if I could get this close to home. Suggested I call the Dr. Spoke to his receptionist who had him on the line. He said I had to come to the clinic for the needle and if I am to sick . CALL AN AMBULANCE. I had my needle late as sick as I was I got there. The nurse who gave me the needle said I could have had it close to home. I am currently writing my story for the College Of Physicians and the Toronto Star. No person should have endured the pain, and anxiety this illness has caused me. The off ice finally corrected the hysterectomy error on the computer after telling them twice. I beg you get copies of every report and diagnosis. My son was told report had nothing serious or Inwould be contacted just see the spec. Spec said Ovary not his area. One month gone by. The Dr had this report. Got my own gynacologist. Stay tuned for more.

Dr. Yoong is caring, knowledgeable, and compassionate. He listens and takes the time to outline all of your options so that you feel like you can make an informed decision. He has always been very thorough with me and I always come out of his office feeling relieved and like I am in good hands. I usually have to wait 40 minutes to see him but I would rather wait and see him than to see any other doctor.

I find that Dr. Kevin Yoong is not knowledgeable in diagnosing or issuing the right medication. He talks on and on about the same thing without answering my question. I have had to pay a lot of money for medication and it turned out I didn't have what the doctor claim what the problem was. What a waste and I didn't even have insurance at the time.
It is impossible to get an appointment with it. I have had to wait months before seeing him. I have decided to switch doctors.

Dr Yoong was the doctor we found for my daughter when she was first born since my family doctor doesn't accept children in his practice. Although Dr Yoong is a very nice guy, I was not impressed with him as a doctor. He keeps patients waiting for long periods of time, averaging about 40mins-1hour; not great for children! Also, it was impossible to book appointments with him when my daughter was actually sick. When we first met he said if we ever needed an appointment it would be easy to procure, not so! Twice my daughter had croup this past winter and both times we ended up going to the pediatric walk-in bc I was unable to get an appointment; when I tried to book a follow-up appointment with Dr Yoong the earliest I could get was a month away, unacceptable when you have little children. Also, he would chat on and on about the same thing without really being helpful, probably which adds to his wait-times. We've since had our second child and found a pediatrician that we are much happier with, he's punctual (always on time!) and has same day appointments available for when children are sick which is a must of you ask me!

Dr.Yoong is a nice guy and he does take his time with his patients, the biggest problem I have faced with him at Albany clinic is he is always late. The last time I went to see him I waited about 2 hours, with my wife and newborn. I'm heading down to the Broadview Health Team for better care.
