Dr Abey has looked after my health for the past 6 years.
He is a very knowledgeable and highly skilled gastroenterologist, whose attention to detail is unmatched.
Dr Abey has successfully dealt with polyps in my duodenum, which would still be there today,
or worse (!) as most other gastroenterologists would never have diagnosed them, if they had only performed routine colonoscopy, without gastroscopy.
I wholeheartedly recommend Dr Abey to anybody who wishes to be treated by a leader in his profession.

Dr Abey provides a comprehensive and professional service for his patients. I have been a Registered Nurse for 28 years and would not hesitate to recommend Dr Abey for gastroenterological concerns.

I have suffered from ulcerative colitis for more than 15 years and have been a patient of Dr. Abey's since my initial diagnosis. I have experienced a consistently high quality of care under Dr. Abey who has always worked his magic in helping me recover from debilitating flare ups. He has a very clear communication style and works extremely hard for his patients, putting in long hours over and above expectation. I have no reservations in recommending Dr. Abey for anyone looking for a top-notch gastroenterologist.

I have had crohns for over 35 years been to Sydney professors and local gastroenterologist. I can’t stress enough how supportive and understanding Dr Abey has been to me . No matter when I ring him with a problem he organises the best care and solution for me. The treatment he has me on has brought my crohns into remission . I just want to thank him for giving me quality life which I haven’t had for years.

To me, the best Gastroenterologist in Wollongong. After suffering with Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's for 9 years, his treatment regime over the course of 1 year has sent my Crohn's into remission. I highly recommend his services.

I have had two colonoscopies through Dr Shehan Abey and found him professional and I felt confident in his care. No pain or discomfort afterwards. He also participates in access gap which is great because I only had to pay the excess to my health fund. The first time I went through Medicare as I didn't have health insurance and found the care to be of the same quality, just a longer wait. He recommended I continue on iron tablets for my low iron and I had to stress that this was not suitable for me ( although this is the recommendation of most doctors) and so he referred me to a haemotologist for an iron infusion. Although he didn't immediately refer me and i had to stress that the iron tablets were difficult to take due to the side effects, he listened to my concerns and treated me with respect - a lot of doctors and pharmacists have talked condescendingly when i try to explain that the side effects prevented me from taking them.
